Since this is one crazy happening for me, I just had to post it here.

First of all... how many females (teenagers, this question isn't for you adults) do you know that program for fun? Or at all?

Here is the rare thing that happened to me:
A name I never heard of before just popped up in my buddy list, and it turns out to be a female programmer that lives in my town

Now... uh... I haven't really talked to her much, except rant and rave about, oh whatever, I'll post the conversation here:

Ninkazu: well..... ya. Since all of the forums I go to have never seen or spoken to a female programmer under 40 o_O

Ninkazu: I know Meghan Reedy programs, but that's just Java from school, and she doesn't program for leisure.

Hold on, I remember going to a programmer's website where he actually RESEARCHED about female programmers (yes..... we're THAT interested in the subject)

So that's what has happened, and here I sit waiting for her to come back.

Um, ya, go ahead and think I'm weird, but Optimus is even weirder for MAKING that page. ....what happened to him anyway? Did he get a JOB or something? o_O

So uh... ya, if you know any girl programmers out there, please tell me as I'm interested. Moreover, if you ARE a girl (Meg, just thought of you... ooooook... well... hello o_O) please say so, and how you got interested and all that.

Well, besides Meg (and I assume by her sn she is a girl), there's kgirl with the cartoon avatar and whatsherface, who had a banana for an avatar and that one Clarita girl who made all those wierd porno games they keep reviewing on VPlanet. Everyone else either has to androgynous a screen name to tell right away or has complained about some kind of girl problem so I know they're a guy (or a lesbian, but i'll assume "guy" first)

The pixelation community is far more balanced though.

One of the members of my software engineering team an Uni is female. I would say that at my University less than 10% of computer science students would be female though.

When I entered college, about 10% of us were females. Now the percentage is increasing. I'd say that about 30%.

I'll give you some advice here: There is no need to "play it cool", ever. If you ever find yourself trying to "play it cool" then you are either taking the wrong approach to talking to a girl, or she is too shallow and needs to be assasinated immediately. You are supposed to be yourself, and the right girl for you is supposed to (eventually) find that very attractive, charming, or some good quality.
