platform wining conditions

Quote:Unfortunatly, recommending games that you liked is a bit usless for my. Being a middle class student in South Africa means theres no chance of me owning a gaming platform or buying games for my PC. The only games I play are QB ones and duke 1 & 2 (my inspiration) era games.

Well, you can always go and download emulators and roms. Go for nesticle, it will run fine in your machine, and then look for super mario saga and megaman saga. You won't regret it.

Download Massage. Not the best for SMS but it will run on your P166. Then download the Alex Kidd saga and the Sonic saga.

For Sonic Chaotix you should find the Gens emulator, but I fear that it won't run on a 166 'cause Sega MD32X is such a powerful console (7 Mhz 68000, 10 Mhz 68020, 2*23 Mhz custom RISC, 4 Mhz Z80 at the same time Tongue).

Both emus and ROMs are very easy to find and get.

I like the old fashioned platform way... Get to the end of a level where there's a boss, fight him, and move on... I always found collecting items or getting to the exit kind of boring.

I LOVE YOU REL!!!

Ive been using that last version you gave me (FlipH... Wrap and such), its been a great memory saver!! Ill check out this one and give you the low down on how i like it!!

I decided to put in colored keys to open doors (already added) and maybe another challenge or two to complete the levels.

Thanx for the ROM info, ill see what I can do between work and lectures, but most of my spare time will be dedicated to sport and this platformer. Ive got a friend on board that is a great artist, but he is a bit new to pixel art, lets hope it works out! Big Grin

I think you'll gonna kill me after you read this Citpes. j/k

Fliph, flipV,flipVh has some clipping bugs, depending on where you clip it and what routine are you using.

But not to worry that new version has a faster and more generalized flipped routines. You only need one routine to do all the flipping. Plus translucency and gamma is also supported. They also clip perfectly.

Btw, those new flip routines are as fast as Relsprite,RelspriteTrans and RelspriteGamma, even on flip mode.

I never noticed the problems with the old version Rel... But the new version kicks even more A$$!! After a few adjustments to use the new improved flip routines, I got it to work perfectly! ill probably use WrapX for parallax scolling, ohhhhh!

Remember I said RelBox didnt work in that last version, well it seems to work again, yay! Big Grin

EDIT2:
Yay!!! I given the player the ability to shoot and kill the enemys! Im sooooo stoked with myself! It was quite a challenge to get the collision right with a scolling screen.

i always liked rpg elements in a platformer......gaining levels, collecting weapons and armor. add adventure elements........

and don't forget to add:

....

....

MINIGAMES!

Yep, minigames are very important to make a platformer fun.
such as donkey kong (or was it diddy....) on a slay at 100mph.

that'd be fun.....

cheers/mariuz

Spectrum game "Livingstone" by OperaSoft is one of the best! Large world with many different zones, enemies. Many objects to collect, weapons, a pole for jumping. DynamiteDan2 is also good game. Heck, world of Spectrum is filled with original arcades with great concept and excellent playability. It's bottomless well of ideas!
