awww...This is just like an episode of full house. and now, back to the point. Qbasic is no dead language, it's just not used by alot of people anymore. it's basically like latin. but if you take qbasic.com off of it's throne, then what do you have. a pretty much dead language. think about it, you go to google and type in qbasic, and you get qbnews or John Doe's QB Site. I'd much rather visit a more official site before veiwing all the others, so why don't we just put all of our links on it's site?
the mind is a beautiful thing, use it and make the world a more beautiful place.

I'm curious as to why he'd invest like that and then leave the site for dead, so to speak. Especially since there's only a few hundred people who'd maintain it for free....

It stands to reason he'd get more traffic (read "more money") if Qbasic.com was updated.

Quote:Why not contact ISP to find out the details of the person hosting this site and then contact him?

Cos it's invasion of privacy and illegal Tongue

Quote:Also, I don't like the idea of pulling down a dead website. If other sites were really competitive(which i think they are) and had more hits than qbasic.com then automatically they would be attracted to these sites. And why not try to contact Mac who is the forum owner at qbasic.com and tell him to post about what is the true state of qbasic.com?

Frankly, for newbies and n00bs its a *very* good site to start off. So why pull it down? When those newbies and n00bs know about what is going on they will spontaneously leave qbasic.com and migrate to other sites =P

But the other sites out there - like QBNZ, QB45 etc, are better than qbasic.com (in my opinion). They are regularly updated, have newer files and links on them, and in general give the impression that qbasic is alive - which we all agree it is.

Lachie: your site is a fine example of a "programming team" site, with many projects released etc Smile

What happens if QBNZ was there? I tried to make QBNZ like QBasic.com in a way, but better in all the ways I thought it could be better, and I get heaps of positive feedback about it Smile

Oh, and you know - that other site... that's official Wink

the Qbasic.com domain name was sold a while ago for over $2000US. So maybe he doesn't own it anymore...

I'll email him/read his stuff, and see what he says. Who knows, I managed to contact HD, so maybe Mr. Zohrob will be there Smile

edit: I've sent him an email to his university address. I'll keep you all posted on whether he's replied or not Smile
