It could be that his old computer had win95 on it Smile

Then again, the download from kazaa may be smaller

I use lilo as my boot manager, it's simple enough to make partitions, but I don't know if it works with windows or not.
LILO should have no problem working with Windows. It has a pretty good manual, so read it. Smile
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

eQuuskia: OK, where do I get VMWARE. And will it simulate COMPLETE MS-DOS/Windows, including things like config.sys, and most standard msdos device drivers?

Zack: You can obtain a trial version at www.vmware.com. If you would like to use the software beyond the 30 day evaluation period, pm me for further assistance. Smile And all the answers to your questions are yes. You can run any OS inside the VMware, since it is a virtual machine program.

AHH! EVIL!

Don't even THINK about running windows 95 on a machine capable of windows XP. Get Windows 98 instead. That way I won't have to hunt you down and kill you for crimes against humanity.

The best way to do the dual boot is to forego partitioning altogether. Install windows 98 on your machine, then install XP. XP will handle the bootloader stuff so you can dualboot, just remember to install XP to a directory not called c:\windows. c:\winxp will do.

After that, just remember that you have to install the applications for both OSes. A program you installed in XP won't be installed in 98, or vice versa. After that, it's all smooth sailing.
