Nathan's translation is very good. I'm Spanish speaking also, plus I lived in Brazil for a year. Nathan did not do a word for word translation, it wasn't necessary. He extracted the intent and meaning and put it into English.

That some lenguages look similar doesn't mean that they are equal. According to grammar, ortography, morphology, lexic and syntax, the two languages are completely different. The pronounciation is different, the words have different meanings. They are similar 'cause they both come from Latin.

Upon Joe's assertion, we could pack Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian in a nifty common language, but that way we could also pack German with Duch or Norsk with Danish, and maybe Chinese with Japanese.

No way, I can bet that almost 90% of spanish people won't understand a portuguese boy speaking. They would understand some stuff to make ideas, but that's all. And they can make false friends, for example "una comida exquisita" in Spanish means a superb meal, but that "exquisita" in portuguese would mean an awful meal, so beware...

"Constipado" in Spanish means someone with a cold, and "constipated" in English means ... well, you know what I mean... False friends, false friends. Do not trust how words sound or look like Wink

Don't jump to conclusions, Toonski. Nathan didn't just translate into Engish those words that looked like Spanish, he's intelligent enough to have rcognized the Portuguese words that needed translating. Let's not forget that Nathan lives in Europe and has had significant exposure to Portuguese and other non-Spanish languages.
