Getting QB 7.1 to work

But most libs are compiled for qb 4.5 so you have wider compatibility. But then again you can prolly ask the developer to recompile the lib for qb 7.1 =)

Someone has emailed me asking how this is done.

When they run QBX.EXE, they're taken to SETUP.EXE, which requires them to insert a disk into drive A etc etc.

How do they get around this?

Tell them to read the 2INSTALL.txt included with the zip.

INSTALLATION NOTES
------------------------

1. Create a directory (Eg. C:\pds_inst)
2. Open a DOS window
3. Enter the command 'subst X: C:\pds_inst' (Where X: is the drive you wish to create, and C:\pds_inst is the directory you created in step 1.)
4. Under windows (Or whatever OS you are using) open the X: drive.
5. Run setup.exe
6. Open a DOS window again
7. Enter the command 'subst X: /D' (Where X: is the drive you created in step 3.) this will remove the virtual drive.

1. Unzip the contents of the zip to C:\pdsinst\ and open a dos shell.
2. Run "subst a: C:\pdsinst\"
3. Run "setup.exe" by typing "setup"
4. After setup.exe exits. Run "subst a: /D"

The X drive thingy just confuses people. Also, dont mix up DOS and Windows environments.

I didn't write those instructions.
I was just relaying the instructions that are bundled with the zip from QBNZ.

Anyway... Their easy enough for someone who plans to code to follow.

Hehe, I thought you wrote them. Anyway, for a newbie it may not be possible to even follow those instructions =P. So I just suggested easier ones =P.
