My view on this whole issue:
Some people are having a little 'race' to get the most posts. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, maybe I'm wrong, but if Im right, then I dont know what the world is coming to... :-?

There's a mod for that I think. Try http://www.phpbbhacks.com/viewhack.php?id=2155. I haven't tested it, but it sounds like it's what you're looking for.

Just how does this prevent post-increasing? I mean, I hope it won't filter out posts with less than, like, 10 words.

....no. Don't add it. Pixelation has a 100 character limit, and it's not effective to me. Only annoying. Adding a "smiley only" stopped would be good, however.

I agree, I think we all are old enough now to not have to have restrictions placed on us by admins when everyone can just modify their behavior and mature.

Nonononono.... I'm not talking about a mod that would delete posts, sheesh! Geez guys, you got me all wrong!

I'm talking about a mod that would make it so admin could choose forum(s) that when people posted in they would not increase their post count. So you could post a smiley only, or a huge rant, and you post count wouldn't increase.

This would weed out some of the more extreme spammers. And don't say "they'd just move to other forums", the other forums have to be generally on topic, so any rubbish would be deleted anyway.

I think this is a good idea, as a "safeguard". It's not the restrictive idea you all seem to think it is
