Adventure Game Help
#11
As my first post on THIS qb site(I used to post on QB45 and I now post ALOT on Qbasic.tk),

What about THIS for a plot.

The Year is 2389. The Earth is cold and dark from the years of polution and wars. Nuclear reactors are getting old, and are leaking tons of radioactive waste into the atmosphere, but people are desperate for energy and warmth.

A well respected scientist by the name of Jon Rain finally discovered a way to harness the power of Antimatter in a safe and efficient way. He introduces a material known as NuMatter to the antimatter, leaving it stable until the time that it is ready to be utilized. It appears that the world is finally saved.

10 YEARS LATER
DEC. 24, 2399

Although antimatter handling routines are safer then they had ever been, it is still possible for accidents to happen. All "raw" antimatter-antimatter that hasn't been treated with NuMatter-is delivered to a space station in orbit around the moon called AMCOM just in case an accident DOES happen. Today, Jon Rain who lives on the spacestation and is still experimenting with antimatter, is designing a new portable generator. It is as small as a suitcase, yet it can power all of earth for fifty years.
"Finally! It's finished!" said Jon, looking at the small black box.
Just then, a loud crash could be heard reverberatig through the space station. A small light cruiser shot a powerful photopulse beam at AMCOM. Jon felt the air being sucked out of the room, and had just enough time to close his eyes and say "God help me." to himself before being sucked into space, the generator still in his hands. Minutes later, the generator was being pulled out of Jon's frozen dead hands inside the cruiser, for that was it's entire purpose-to steal this innocent looking box. The cruiser quickly flew back to earth, and landed somewhere in the Sahara.
The damage that the thieves had inflicted on AMCOM was too terrible for the space station to survive, and it exploded with the force of a billion nuclear warheads. The moon was destroyed, sending billions of billions of meteors toward earth. They were small enough so as not to destroy the earth, but big enough to destroy many cities-and many cities WERE destroyed.

It turns out, that the people who stole the generator intend to use it to destroy Earth. They belong to a cult known as the 24th deliverer. They believe that they must destroy Earth on midnight of the new year(2400) to deliver the souls of the world to the next dimension.

You are on your way home for some last minute Christmas shopping when you are called in for "work". You are a secret agent of the CIA, and must retrieve the bomb at all costs. All of humanity depends on it.

DHUH DHUH DHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH!!!

Hows that? Just an idea I had for a game a while ago, but I never got around to using it...you can use it if you want!

Quote:Sounds like the movie where Stallone played a cop.. both of them. (or two of them: both involved cities of the future.. forgot their names..)

Judge Dredd. :*)

Okay, no offense, but Judge Dredd AND Demolition Man both sucked (the style was pretty cool, though). As far as the movies, I was thinking something simpler. Like a set of bmps for each frame, used like an fli. Zip them in a .pak file, and load when needed. As far as filespace, just have the game run off a CD.

Great story Pyrodap! A really original plot... mixed with an intersting invloving story. That would be a fantastic base for a game!

Hey Pyrodap, that is a cool plot idea! It does sound a little like a futuristic Die Hard, though. If I use this, I'll give you full story credit.

I came up with a cool edit for that story I posted earlier. What if the humanoid leaves no trace, and in the end the character you play discovers he IS the humanoid!
