My Norton antivirus subscription expired...
#11
Reformatting is out of the Question for me fling as I don't have a CDwriter. :*(

Plasma: It worked!!!! At least I tried it on my sis computer.(Can't install a new antivirus prog cuz of a nasty Mcaffee instalation) so I did delete some stuff on the registry(regedit) then I was able to install PCcillin on my sis' comp!!!! Woot!!! Problem was her comp ws infected with PE_weird virus and it did some nasty stuff after PCcillin quarantined the infected files.

Probs:

I can't open windows explorer :*(

Any fix short of reinstall?

Is that the only deleted file?

If you have gotten rid of the virus just download explorer.exe . . .

Nope: I can't open it. Something Pccillin quarantined that made it impossible to run. :*(

I've always hated PCcillin, drive me crazier than norton  After trying all the antivirus programs or seeing them in (non)action on other computers, AVG is certainly the most lightweight, noncryptic and easy to update AV prog. i've installed it over a norton uninstall with no probs on mom's computer. To this day she's virus free thankfully.

I use AVG too. It's a decent scanner.

Rel, If you're looking for a small scanner, you might like f-prot for DOS too. It's updated frequently and scans quick. It's caught several infected files for me. The DOS version is free.

It's not as good as Norton or the other big scanners, imo, but it free and small. I wouldn't rely on it alone, but it's nice to add to ones utility belt.
