I Don't know how many of you are still at school and how many go to work everyday. Now sometimes if you work on a website or as I do work on applications, you need some icons. And I was supprise to find out there are almost none free of any cost icons on the web (that are in anyway usable offcourse) this gave me the idee to start a project. Gather a group that likes the same idea and can give a contibution to the project. Ofcourse only icons that are really created by the people and not stuff gathered from the internet. I Plan on creating a set of icons in formats ranging from 16X16 to 128x128. Also giving out my set of emoticons I once created for this forum, all royalty free for non commercial AND commercial use, I only expect the once who use it to credit the project. Any one interested in helping out?

Hehe, Q-Icons, I like it.
So, how would you submit Icons?
I don't have any good ones ye, but for later.
And perhaps a better 'contact' then a link to QBN, Email perhaps?
EDIT: When submitting, do you have to supply all formats?, 16, 32 and 64 sized BMP's?
And isn't it, 16, 32 and 48? (I've never heard of 64x64 sized Icons, meh, they are easily scaled)
Perhaps only 64x64 sized ones?

well common icon formats are
16, 24, 32
some more uncommen scales are
48, 64 and even 128
For submitting you can email them to me:
martin@cubeactive.com
the contact page should have a email adres jup, but I did not have the time for it yet. Ill do that this week.
As far as creating icon's I use vector tools, this way you create your icon once and you can scale them to any size you wish without losing any detail. So the best way of submitting is in a vector format, that way we can also make a 128 size icons if we ever want to. I Hope some more ppl will submit icons that way we can build a good large collection.

Wait, icons aren't free? I've been using Word's for my wysiwyg editor, so does the Midas demo, I don't see where I could get in trouble for pirating a little 21x21 16-icon. Do they even have copyrights on those?
I tried to do something similar for emoticons waay back last summer. I whipped up
http://betterwebber.com/smilies , but never took it any furthor. If you want, though, I can dig around my computer backups for the smiley sets I had for that site. It's not a promise as to whether I'll find any, and I can't do it for another week.
