Yeah, I prefer a linear discussion. Perhaps a tree is more intuitive/organized, but a linear thread system is far more usable.

I think linear forums suck. You can't tell who's replying to who without quoting everyone, and having to load a whole page of posts just to read one message can be annoying for those with slower connections.

I almost always quote whoever I'm replying to. There's two sites I know/use with tree forums -- IMDB and a robotics group I'm in. In both cases, it's supremely frustrating trying to follow the main thread of the discussion.
Zack: Sorry about your site, man. The thing is, though, there just isn't a market for it. So many similar sites exist already and most people are already attached to one. The only way to get off the ground is to provide UNIQUE and QUALITY content (tutorials/downloads/whatever) that people will come to your site for... and KEEP providing new stuff so that people will come BACK.
