FireFox = good browser because why?
#21
lets just say, 10 minutes after it finished downloading, the popup blocker suddenly stopped working and i got flooded with ads with titles such as "is your computer safe?", "Save at travelzoo" and "would you like to a) install 80xpress to get rid of all viruses on your computer b)leave all 80xpress files on your computer, or c)remind me again later."

and it continued everytime i started firefox until i removed the program and ran a bunch of ad-aware scans/spybot scans.

::EDIT::
i haven't installed anything (like plugins or themes) for over a month or two. and the ad's did stop after deleting the program.

After the bookmarklet (posted by the-edmeister), or the extension (posted by 68Firebird), finished downloading?

Sure you didn't turn off the popup blocker yourself when you tried to configure the passwords? I myself have used Mozilla flawlessly on 5 machines. If the "tech support" had been a paid-for phonecall I would understand, but it was on a forum, probably with the same range of users as this one - n00b to expert. In fact, I may do a test install of said extension to see what the results are.

of course i'm going to recommend you dont do a test install, unless you 'want' adware and spyware. but if you feel like doing it (for what reason i 'do not' know) then go ahead. i'm fairly sure i didn't turn off the pop-up blocker. cause afterwards, it worked fine without me having to re-activate it.

and i don't think there is anyone you can call, i don't think they even have a paid for group of people you can talk to. it's probably just a bunch of other firefox users saying the same things: "I can't help you, i don't have that problem, but you can go here and download this and it 'might' fix your problem"

I've downloaded the bookmarklet and there are no adverse affects. I won't download the other one because I use GMail and the download site warns Gmail could be affected. To be fair it is a beta product that still has bugs, and could have accidentally disabled the popup blocker.
