I believe I've finally exhausted the fun in playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein single player - now that I've finished it, and played each level again twice. Multiplayer still holds some excitement, but it's not the same adventure as single-player ever is.
So I'm looking for another game, along the same lines. Preferably nothing to do with space or flying or aliens, something more evil-human-enemy-attacks, so go on mission to infiltrate them...it's gotta be a shooter, with lots of weapons to use, and a good specific mission-by-mission-based plot.
It's gotta run on XP on a 2.4 GHZ with 512 MB of mem. It'd be nice if it also had an internet multiplayer mode with a good selection of players at most times of the day.
Suggestions? Feel free to state the obvious, as I really haven't played too many games, ever.

Halo PC
Best shooter out there.
::EDIT::
i realize it's about space aliens, but still. all the physics are there, and the guns are reasonable(aka, pistol, assult rifle, shotgun, rocket launcher). just try it, or ask anyone else who's played it.

Yeh, Far Cry would be along your lines, Zack. Bad Scientists creating evil monsters. You must infilitrate bases on beautiful tropical island, and neutralise threats etc. The system requirements are very high, but i guess it should be fine on your computer, depending on what graphics card you have.
Or you could wait for F.E.A.R. That game looks awesome, could probably scare the pants off Doom 3, jaw dropping action sequences, great AI and plenty of evil. Mainly the blood-dripping-off-walls type evil.

Both Half Life 2 and Far Cry really needs alot "juice" and if you don't have some sort of magic-graphic-card I guess you can rule them both out (if you don't enjoy playing with great lagging).
If you havn't played Half Life 1 I suggest you try it. My personal favourites among FPS. If you're into internet-play I would suggest Battlefield 1942.
Have fun!

<-- agrees with PJ. Though I've never played it myself (I prefer RTS's), Half Life 2, particularly Counterstrike: Source sounds like what you're looking for. It's pretty popular too, so there should always be someone online to shoot against. I've been told it requires a fast machine-- but personally, I think that 2.4 gigs should be enough.

OK, I've tried Halo 2. I didn't like it all that much.
My video card: 64 MB Intel Extreme.
So the consensus seems to be Half-life 2. Question about that:
Am I correct in saying that Half-life 2 is a single-player game, with multiplayer capabilites, and it comes with Counterstrike, which also is single player and multiplayer?

Yeah. You'd also be correct in saying that it's the best FPS game to date.
Halo2.... pffft.
