FreeBasic + FBIde download (0.11b + FBIde 0.3.3a)
#1
Hi,

New FB 0.11b + FBIde 0.3.3a here: http://www.hot.ee/fbide/idefbc033a.exe

enjoySmile

with permission from v1ct0r I made an installer witch will install both FBIde(0.3.1) and Freebasic(0.10b win32 -only). So just run installer, install and run FBIde and start codingSmile Config files are configured by the installer.

enjoy!

I disagree.

The idea of using an installer is a bad one in itself (a RAR/ZIP or even a self extracting archive is fine), and now to install freeBASIC and fbIDE together? No chance.

I hope you can see the light and maybe keep a RAR'ed version of fbIDE up...if not just for me.

I think this is more targetting the "newbie" usergroup than the more epxerienced.

Ofcourse, if you feel you belong in this category aether... Tongue Big Grin

I think it's a good idea to do both. The instant setup thing is awesome as it allows me to introduce people to freebasic in a streamlined manner while offline. No need for them to tinker with path settings(unless they really want to lol), they can just jump right in and start coding..

I think it's a great move, and it'll be much easier to get into when you don't have to download multiple things. Of couse FB and FBIde should be avaliable seperatly too, but as for the main download, I think it should be this.

A language should have an IDE for download, and neither FB nor FBIde alone is this.

I'm not even going to touch that Z!re...

And I don't think a 'language' should have a dedicated IDE.

fbc is a command-line compiler with more than one IDE on the works. I've found fbIDE too buggy for my tastes...I actually use ConTEXT or notepad or a VBScript editor I wrote a while back. I only use fbIDE from time to time to check stuff and when I'm testing code.

Look at purebasic, that comes with an IDE and a Visual Designer, but both can easily be changed to another one, so in that way why not?
For me as a newbee it´s nice not to have to deal with command lines.

I even would prefer to have the system checked for the necessary .dll´s. When I tried to look at some examples I had to search the internet first for 2 dll´s, maybe some other errors/disfunctions exist only because of a missing 3rd or 4th one...

Is freebasic worth making the switch from qb 4.5 or should I just stick with what I know works?
