Big Grin hmm, I like the online store.. with FB goodies,. it be probaly the best sounding way so far to create a $ barrier while keeping the compile free..

And with shirts, jackets, mugs, or whatever else, FB get some attention in the world outside and maybe round up and create more programers..

And I'd love to have a FB shirt!! :bounce: :rotfl: :bounce: :rotfl: :bounce:

as http://sourceforge.net/projects/fbc - the project homepage of freebasic is on sourceforge, there is already an option (that can simply be turned on) where you can donate money to the project. Though i think v1c said paypal doesnt really support brazil too much.

If money is envolved passion gets lost, that is my expierience.
If the passion is not there the thing is dead even if it exists...
The quality comes from passion, nowhere else.

Passion doesent pay the bills...

V1c has to work to get money to survive...

And the more v1c works to get money.. the less he works on FB..

Ofcourse he should take breaks, and I'm sure he do.. I doubt he's coding FB 24/7.. although it seems like it Tongue

What Nex said.. i will enable the project donations option at sourceforge.net as many projects have that now and as part of the donations go to Sourceforge itself (that hosts the site and everything else), they deserve it.

Still, it is not called FreeBASIC for no reason, if i wanted to make money off it, things would be way different, but that was not (and still not being) my idea.

To write FB i had to work over 1000 hours in these past 5 months, i wish i could work more 10000 hours on it to write proper documentation and examples, to make it more stable, to add high-level optimizations, to add all the missing features (debugging, macros, classes, etc), to add support for all libs i have in mind (Gtk, GD, Devil, libxml, to name a few), to port it to other CPUs other than x86 (PPC, maybe ARM) and so on, but at the moment i gotta go back to the web devepment, what will take my full time -- i can't stand using a computer at home when working in front of one 8+ hours a day :P.

With the SF donations, most i can do is import/buy hardware (a mac mini is the top on the list, to make the OS X port) from the few places that accept PayPal as payment method, as PayPal won't withdraw checks to Brazil and as i don't have an international credit-card. I can't spend it with girls, beer and pizza, unfortunately ;).

Anyways, thanks for the support, feedback is more important than money, any time -- okay, that was bs, nm..

Well, just because freeBASIC is free doesent mean you have to work for free Wink

And yah, maybe yu should look into having a company sponsor.. freebasic is, and will get a lot of attention.. and some sponsor link/banner page on the freebasic official site wouldnt bother me...

Just think about how much attention FB has gotten in the past few months... it's insane... think about what will hapen in the coming 6 months?

A banner to the far right on the FB site... it might not generate much, but atleast it's something...

And if you're lucky you might even get real money from it... =)

Just thinking out loud...

LOL...well If it's what Victor wants, then maybe we can give it to him. what does he want? He likes his working on FB, there's no denying that right now. He seems to know what's going on (which makes sense since it's his project....duhh! lol). He knows where he wants to take it. and he don't want money...Hmmm Victor, You're hired....LOLOL....like the previous post said, FreeBasic is free, that's great, but thinking about the 1000 hours you spent, in the computer industry anyway, time is money. That goes for anyone developing something to help the FB Initiative, IDE, GUI Generators, you know who you are (and who I am ;-). This all helps making sure that the 1000s of hours spent on FB don't dissapear in thin air.

Feedback, help with documentation, test and debugging, bindings to libraries and engines. The reason C++ is so popular is because not only of C++ but also all the things it can use (bindings to whatever exists). It's definitally going to be a key point to FB's success. IDE's and Code Generators too, Nek, you know what you gotta do ;-). But things like that is what makes or breaks a language. WE're getting a compiler that kicks ass people, now sure we needs games made to test libraries and such, but we need tools to make the creation of games as easy as what FB's is supposed to represent. :-).

Not sure why Paypal don't wanna do the checking thing to Brazil...WADAP WITH DATZ? but to me there's no reason....not sure what they're trying to pull but I'd look that up...there's other "paypal like" services too that i'm sure would LOVE to send you your check to brazil...you know? paypal is widespread, that don't make it the best ;-). Like I love to say every once in a while, the majority, sometimes, means that all the fools are on the same side ;-).
hen they say it can't be done, THAT's when they call me ;-).
