Someone posted a program on The QBasic Forum asking why it wouldn't compile. It turned out that the problem was that it would not compile in FreeBasic.
Would someone please help out here:

And feel free to encourage him to come to this forum for FreeBasic information.
Thanks,
Mac

Ok I posted there and pointed him here. I hope my explanation of why his program's not compiling was clear enough.

Mac, I know you hate it, but you should get used to it. The longer FreeBASIC is around, the more people will post questions on
any BASIC forum about it. It's closer to MS$ BASIC than any other BASIC variation... why not expand your forum and invite the new genre? Even a small sub-forum would keep the FB wolves at bay for ya.

Hi, VonGodric,
Still around, eh? I haven't seen you on The QBasic Forum since 2003

Hi, Sterling,
Thanks! Very nice.
Hi, Dr_Davenstein,
Well, Visual Basic also has a lot in common with QBasic, and so are macros in Microsoft Word and Excel. Also ASM-QBasic interface can accomplish nice things. But all that is not the point of The QBasic Forum.
I feel that experienced programmers in the BASIC area have a nice community here at QBasicNews, so there is no need for another FreeBasic forum, etc.
The QBasic Forum is for QBasic only (plus DOS, of course). It's purpose is to further good programming practices by teaching newbies and by arguments amoung the more senior participants. That's why I try to steer all FreeBasic guys away.
But we do have a subforum for VB, etc. and they could post there if they want.

Equating FB to VB is like equating dobermans to dalmations. Both are dogs, but dalmations (like VB) are stupid.
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.
