Saw it on a text stripe on tv. I'm not catholic or very religious, but
it's like the pope. Any thoughts? Who's gonna be the next?
What's direction is the catholic church gonna take now?

As a humanitarian, he was one of the greatest who lived. One of the most prominent figureheads in the downplay of Eastern European communism in the late 80's, John Paul II crusaded against oppression, poverty and war.
Sure, he was traditionalist in his views on family issues, but no one is perfect.

Sad news for us all. At least he is now beyond the suffering of this world and is united with our heavenly father.

Yes, he is just like any other non-divine person.

Even if you don't follow his religion (which I don't), even if you didn't agree with his decisions (which I didn't), and even if you were often sickened by some of the things he did (which I was), one can't help but to reflect on what positive things he did for this insane world. Amid criticism, a declining membership in the Catholic church the world over, several radical changes in the various societies of the world, and many wars, he stuck with his original agenda and never lost sight of his goals. He accomplished more in his life than most ever dream of, whether good or bad...he still did more than just talk, like most people do. No one will ever be able to fill his shoes, there's not a person alive on this planet with the kind of iron will he had and for that, he has now and always has had my respect. Rest in peace, Juan Pablo II.
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

the pope is just a man, in my religion we dont worship men.. jesus, he was just a man as well, we dont worship him either, we love him, and understand what he did, and how it effects us.... but we only worship god... so the pope's being dead is treated just like another person being dead.. maybe at most its like a celeberty being dead imho
