What are your favorite animé(s) of all time?
#11
I know that the posting was for currently watched anime, but I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned Akira.

I have been eyeing the anime version of Metroplis. I thought the original silent film was interesting enough to keep me watching it.
Has anyone seen the anime version? If so, is it worthwhile?
ature has its way of warning a person away from danger: The distinct black and white coloration on a skunk, the chilling buzz of a rattlesanke, a redneck handing you his beer and saying "Watch this!"

To all of you:

Well, with so *many* different animés available (and apparently well over 100+ animé production houses in Japan alone! :o ), I am telling you, finding a favorite animé can be like finding a needle in a humongous haystack sometimes, you know? BUT, when a show/OVA/movie like that becomes more and more popular with many people (especially with us and the internet crowd, too!), then the search becomes narrowed and narrowed down already and we get more and more closer toward finding that favorite of ours. Cool

Both simply and in essence, lots upon quite lots of people recommend various animés like Ghost in the Shell, Wolf’s Rain, and Last Exile perhaps so largely because of the challenging, unpredictable storylines and the way the characters suddenly become more and more developed to who they *really* are on the inside of them, in addition to the rather strong imagery and CG that can literally supercede EVEN the hottest special effects of most Hollywood blockbusters and stuff today, you know that? The only differences for at least some people, however, is their own tastes and what they like or do not like. It is just a matter of opinion, in other words here. Wink

And to you, Rokkuman:

Quote:BTW, Adigun, I just realized the style of your posts are actually starting to look kinda slick... especially since you toned down on the letter pyrotechinics. =]

Why thank you, my man!! Big Grin=b I mean, hey, I have learned more and more to improve on my post writing habits and stuff like that from over the past entire year (praise God for no doubt empowering me to do that, really!). Well, at least I am starting to become a better person like that here, you know what I mean?

Once again, Rokkuman, I thank you!! :king:

Alright. Catch all of you later now, and so wonderful having you all here! Wink

Animes I have really enjoyed are:

Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Ninja Scroll
Neon Genisis Evangaleon
Cowboy Bebop
DragonBall Z

Ive seen both of the Ghost in the Shell movies and a few episodes from the series, I found the movies far better. Batou in particular is way cooler in the movies. Also, you cant call yourself an anime fan unless you are watching the Japanese versions, they are much more intense than the English dubs.

To LooseCaboose:

As for some of what you wrote, man, which was.....

Quote:you cant call yourself an anime fan unless you are watching the Japanese versions, they are much more intense than the English dubs.

....I VERY strongly agree with that. :king: True was the case, for example, with all 13 episodes of the 1990-1991 original Japanese-language OVA version of the Record of Lodoss War (with English subtitles), which made the animé a *whole* lot better than ever — that was what I have experienced on DVD from a few years ago, admittedly. Smile ! Hey, it is those amazing little niches kept alive from the original Japan releases of animé — like its own quality voice actors and stuff totally intact and all — that can just make the thing click real good, you know that? I mean, that is the sheer beauty of such subtitled Japanese animation releases being shipped to the USA and overseas, after all (that is why there is ADV Films and Central Park Media, too!). Wink

Talk to you again, and thanks for that fine reply. Big Grin

Akira (both the original and the 2000 remaster, LC and I had a small convo on this forum about this earlier)
Fist Of The North Star (movie version, not the manga)
Wicked City
Vampire Hunter D
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (I have both the Engish dub which is censored and the Spanish dub which is uncensored)
Ninja Scroll

...plus some others which aren't suited for this forum... Big Grin

I don't really watch too much anime, not because i don't like it, but because i don't have access to them. (I have cable, not satellite.) At first the only anime's i ever saw were sailor moon, pokemon and dragonball z. I didn't really care for the other two, but dragonball z I watched for a while. I got bored though, because it had the storyline of a generic rpg: bad guy come, good guys get stronger, good guys beat bad guys. (When i was little though, I used to watch the old dragonball. That was actually half decent: They brought it back, and i like it much better than the dragonball z,gt)

Then, only about a year ago, I was flipping channels, and I suddenly see cartoon blood spurting all over the place... I stay there, and watch this guy with claws go and slice up his enemies. I've watched that show since...

Inuyasha

That show's good... Lots of slashing and stuff like that. Love that big sword. And Inuyasha's older brother is actually pretty bad-ass...

And they've also started premiering a show called Hack slash or something... i've heard it's a good show, but i haven't checked it out yet. Is it any good?
