YEY!!! finally got my new alienware aurora 5500 and its AWSOME...and GREEN. Couldn't be more happy. It is quite loud though. Now that i have it i will start my course on c++ and open gl so i'm excited.

opening running programs using ogl and c++ could be a pain if your computer is slow enough... plus the ide could boot faster, and the program could compile faster...

True, I just meant the actual act of keying everything in... I just thought something about buying a really high-end machine for the purpose of learning c++ was a bit of an overkill.

for all you know, computerkid's old computer was a pentium 1, 75 mhz with 16 mb ram, a 800 MB hd. In that case, he could save, oh, 10 minutes per compilation.

Coding on my comp is a serious NightMare! I never know when it will crash, or what will stop working next... So I disagree, Its easier to learn when your not worrying about your screwwed comp.. :wink:

Congrats on the Alienware. Those are by far the best you can get. I would get one, but I'm a little strapped for cash...

I didn' think it would make coding any easier, it's just I left my old computer in DC, it was so bad when I tried a free 3d modeling program on it, it would crash. And I didnt want to start learning C++ until now . I could have done better customizeing it but im happy. Here are the specs:
