But really, I feel that this time around, if we actually put our minds to it, organize it carefully, and actually try to have fun doing it, we can work it out. I think we should all try to make a game. A fun, innovative, enjoyable game that's not so complicated that it'll end up being screwed up, but still fun so that if we were to post it at a random site on the internet, people would get enjoyment out of it. I heard there was something that went on a while back that was pretty much smiliar to this, and didn't work out, but I'd still like to give it a shot. It's been at least a year, hasn't it?
So basically, I figured that we could organize it in a pretty obvious way. Get some programmers, sprite designers, musicians, planners, and anyone else with the talents for it, and we could coordinate it in a forum, chatroom, this thread, or whatever could possibly work.
The actual project that I had in mind is a 2D, sidescrolling RPG/Platform game similar to Goemon's Great Adventure. With melee attacks, projectile attacks, 2 player, enemies somewhat more realistic than Goemon's Great Adventure, and towns that you can walk around in, and interact with people in. I haven't completely thought it up yet, but I'm sure I don't really have to just yet. And for those who have no idea what Goemon's Great Adventure is, Here's some screenshots that should hopefully get the point across.
I figured the game could be done in C, since that seems to be the most stable thing around, but if there's any other languages that could handle stuff, and won't get in the way at all, we could go with that too.
This is kind of a quick post, and I haven't really put too much thought in this yet, but yeah. Who's up for it? Like I said, I realise there's been an idea like this in the past, and that it's failed, but really, this is far from impossible. If we get people with the right talents, and the right attitude, this could rule.
