Ahhh....Classic Pong

Quote:A good idea, yes, but human nature would never allow it, so there's no point speculating that a 'correct implementation' would result in a utopian society.

I completely agree, but being so happy about something impossible to get isn't any bad. I know many nice communist fellas that don't harm anyone and they are such excellent persons. I wonder how anyone can hate those people without knowing them.

If we were in 1970 I would understand that american people talked with fear and hate about the communists 'cause they were "the enemy", but now they aren't anymore. In fact, communism was not the enemy but the communist countries, which is quite a different question.

It is like the young japanese guys hated americans for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which is quite pointless and plain stupid.

About the PONG topic, I'll post later a proggie that I coded a little bit ago to learn DirectQB. It is a classic pong clone for two players.

There is also a way to start JILL THE GODDESS in PONG mode. Download the game and type this batch program:

Code:
SBMIDI >NUL
SBSIM >NUL
J.EXE /PONG
SBSIM /U >NUL
SBMIDI /U >NUL

(if your sound card is a AWE32, SB64PNP or SB128PCI or newer use SBMIDI /3>NUL instead in the 1st line)

Save this code as JILLPONG.BAT and use that file to start Jill. You'll enjoy Jill's easter egg (a nice PONG match).

dantheman...I think the game is good. However...a few recomendations:

1) make the angle of the 'bounce off raquet' dependent on position of the ball-on-the-raquet. That is...if it hits in the middle, make it go back straight (easy for computer to return). If it hits near edge...it goes off at a funky angle...

2) get rid of the delay for repete key, so that paddle motion is instantaneous

3) make level selection affect speed of computer's paddle

anyway...nice job

Well, this is a simple demonstration. I'm planning to write a small game tutorial and this was my simple pong demontaration. Anything advanced would ruin it's simplicity, so I left the fancy stuff out. If YOU want to modify it and put in anything you feel necessary, feel free to redistribute my code without credit to me, because I only did the very base work. I would like to see all your pong code if you want to modify mine, so I may learn how everyone does it differently.
