Let us now look back at our fondest console RPG memories.

I really can't think of any others myself except the FF series. FF10 being the latest one I've "looked at".

I hate Pokemon. The fact it's so ... wrong. Also the fact that my ex-girlfriend's little brother at the time was flat out into it. I wonder if he still is, I should call the folks...

Ahem.. Anyway.

This gives me an idea, sort of.

Look into the challanges forum.

What's "wrong" with Pokemon? It's one of the best games I've ever played... it's always fun, endlessly customizable, has more gameplay than just about any other game I can think of (catching all 250+ Pokemon can take hundreds of hours). It's a simple concept, but it's executed so well. Plus, you can take it anywhere. And the games have such a great style and "feel" to them. Nintendo created entire in-game cultures focused around collecting, raising and fighting Pokemon.

Actually, When i played Red when it first game out, I quite enjoyed it, despite all the programming bugs in it. Tongue It's one of the few gems that are based on a tv show/movie.

i cut my first teeth on zelda series... links awakening and adventures of link.

Nah, the TV show was based on the games. It was a marketing ploy by Nintendo. Pokémon (the game) came out in Japan a few years before the U.S. and it became so popular that they made a TV show about it. Before Nintendo was ready to release the game in the United States, they began airing the cartoon for many months in order to stir up hype. It worked really well...thousands of kids wanted the game months before it was even available.

I remember my little brother playing that game. On an emulator. My parents never let us have Nintendos. Though probably for good effect: I fear what my grades would be if I had Ninja Turtles 2 for the NES. I had to play it at my friends house, who were also lucky enough to have the Technodrome. Man, I was a mooch at age 6.

To all of you:

We sure are reminiscing here, aren’t we now? Wink

Alright. To help get you in the further spirit of what this topic is for, here are the following awesome superplays/speedruns of three (3) of THE greatest classic console RPGs of all time, just to whet your appetites a little:
You are free to download the superplay/speeedrun videos of them games, but I want to seriously caution you here: these videos *do* have spoilers in them (especially near the end, too!), so if you are trying to play through any of the three games yourself — or are planning to — I’d best advise you not to watch them. Therefore, please be careful on that note here. Smile !

See you all later, and thanks again!! Cool
