having trouble focusing

What nu?

nu is a greek letter [Image: 1204-r].

It's sometimes used as frequency for a wave, although I've always used small italic f , times new roman style.
In material science (just did exam in it) it's used for the Poisson's Ratio of a solid.
It's also used for neutrinos in quantum physics.

Why do you ask?

Anyway, this is offtopic.

Concerning the not-being-able-to-concentrate problem, see a doctor. He will know what you're dealing with. If he doesn't he may send you to a neurologist.
When trying to focus, make sure there's nothing around you that can disturb you. For example when reading a book sit in the middle of the room, everything silent, everything closed, and ignore any sense but your eyes. Keep them fixed at the book no matter what, and read the book, dont just look at letters and images. Feel with it.

Don't buy over-the-counter drugs unless you are 2000% more desperate than normal! In all seriousness, over-the-counter drugs should be taken only after speaking with a physician or drug clerk.

I'm not Neo, but "Nu" is the thing that all life begins and ends with.

the last thing you need is drugs in your system to make you focus. realize that your in control, and that only you are; not some over the counter (or perscribed) pill. I have OCD and ADD, and i've tried the med thing before, and it absolutely sucked. nothing can just "make you better" like that.

Sure, it was great at first, everything seemed to make sense, you felt relaxed and more in control. but soon after, you become dependent on a damn pill just to remember the simplest of things (and the side-affects of some of these pill aren't pretty.)

You've got to make an effort to focus. it's all you, not a med. i have a few tips dealing with meditation and stress relief if you need them, just think about what your doing before you do it.
the mind is a beautiful thing, use it and make the world a more beautiful place.

I've got ADD, but I'm a lot better when I somehow manage to get a good night's rest and eat regularly.

If you have any trouble sleeping maybe you should work on that first and see if things get better. That is the one thing that all the doctors that have prescribed ADD medication to me have all said.

I dont catch jokes because I always treat them seriously.

If this is from Chrono Trigger, then of course I dont know because I dont play that.

yup. see, i could tell you what im taking, but youre not me. the doctor has been trained to recognize whatever in people, and i havent. so i would never recommend it to you, its not my role. if you feel you need help, see someone who's place in life is to help people, not someone who has only recieved help, like me.

i could go into a lot of why i needed something, but noone wants to hear it. lets say if youre physically, mentally incapable of functioning at a level you know you can function at, and try and try and try and cant do anything about it, then id say youre a good candidate for meds.

personally, id try talk therapy, if i could afford it. i went to a doc and she gave me a sample, so it didnt even cost me a dime.

go get some exercise man, breathe in some fresh air, go yell a lot. and if you still have problems then, take whatever steps you need to. thats the best advice i can give you
