Only the strong survive.

If a species more powerful than man showed up, the world would end.

What do YOU suggest would obsolete the atom bomb?

Yes, it would. But I bet there would still be a chunk of dirt with our mark on it floating around in... nothing. :???:

The atomic will to live? Another bottleneck in genetics? Extinction from a rogue comet? Who knows? It could caused by so many circumstances. (Creation.Time+Destruction.Time)/2=Equal :???:

Whats the saying:

Quote:Give a deer a gun and the ability to use it and he'd hunt humans

I don't know why but i just thought that was relevant.

For some reason the image of the penguins in futermama picking up those guns and pointing them at the other at the end is playing in my mind at the moment, hehehe, boom.

(When i got the replies the latest was SJ Zero's "OK, now build an animal around that quantum singularity.")

This talk really went on an way what i can not agree with. How can it turn out that both is true? Only if you just think about brain as something like a gun or claw what can only be used for destruction! Then it can be perfectly true - but the nature would make us excint already that way. Brain is not just that and especially this is our responsibility! We would be better than the animals if we had used up our brain to overcome fighting and build up a world in what life is happier than animal's (If you not believe that animals are happier than us, compare civilization to that few remaining isolated spots completely(!!) left out from it: they are all happier than us!). Instead we made it even worse since we only used that cursed advantage to evade the nature's laws to prevent us excinting by making laws and a society preventing us killing each other, but nothing more. We left everything bad in it so in the human society finally such diseases appeared (mental diseases) what never existed before humankind. We have way more hidden agression than any of the animals mostly because of our overpopulation what could be also prevented using that "wonderful" advantage.

So think it again this way. Capitalism is especially a translation of "Only the strong survive" (I not mean it everywhere, but usual capitalism is that. This is a fact - the rules defining this system). We can be better than animals by that we have more technology. But then elephants are better than us by being heavier. I talked about our socialisation here: we are proud of it (in overall the humankind), but if we think about it this way it appears that it is certainly far from what is in our pink dreams - it is not hard to find facts proving that it is worse than animals' as they are happier than us in theirs. This is the most important: the morale.

So you can say that this all is a flaw and the whole thing is stupid if you like being unhappy, depressed, a mental wreck or whatever the like not unusual in our society. Read some books (!) about animals' life then come back if you still think this all a flaw: then you will see they are happier! (And not some stupid documentary where they are sitting on the top of a tree for years to catch enough fights in a lion - pack to fill a hour to show up how evilish predators are they).
fter 60 million years a civilization will search for a meteorite destroying most of the living creatures around this age...

There must be a better future for the Cheetahs!

I think you're confusing fact with opinion.
Let me see if I get what you're trying to say... Animals are always happier than humans, if you don't think so you're "unhappy, depressed, a mental wreck"?
There is such thing as a perfectly happy person. Tongue

EDIT:
Okay, scratch that-- Humans couldn't have evolved any differently. (you know what I mean... I don't mean that entirely literally but we could NOT have become 'perfect' happy beings or gods or somesuch by fixing some mistake in our past)
We are the way we are today and like it or not there is no changing that in anyone's lifetime. (you know what I mean I'm sure. I'm not talking about small changes) You can go on and on and on and on and on and on and on about how we COULD be better if we did this or we WOULD be happier if we were X species or we SHOULD somehow break free and make that true etc... (and of course... many people have  ) If you keep looking at the world that way all I've found is that you get more and more pissed off that it ISN'T the way you want it to be.
Adapt.
Get used to it.

If it's your location, lifestyle, or some aspect you have perfect control over than CHANGE it and start living.
I used to be somewhat of an activist quite awhile ago until I realized I just wasn't happy because of it. (dreaming and fighting a losing battle-- inevitable. No, don't get me wrong. I'm not AGAINST such things, in fact I can see quite clearly the motivations and would support them. But to me it's utterly futile.)

I'm not trying to force any of my beliefs on you, I've just noticed that you don't seem to be a very happy person and instead of doing something about it...
I don't know.

Maybe I just shouldn't get into this kind of topic anymore. That seems like a good idea.

Possibly my English was a bit faulty...

I wanted to mean that things like depression is usual in the human society, and that animals not have such diseases. If you think about it, an usual animal's "happines factor" is much higher than an usual human's. Why? I do not think that it needs too much explanation.

The only problem is that we can't really tell how happy an animal is. There is no way to ask, so I guess we never can tell. Wink
