damaging a pc

Here's an idea for a good program you can use to mess with someone:

Create an image of a message box that mentions some kind of fatal error in the computer. Make this image the desktop wallpaper with the Center attribute. Make your app minimize all windows. Hopefully he doesn't have too many desktop icons or the fun of this is sorta destroyed. Anyways...this error message will be on the screen and since it looks legitimate, he will try to click the OK button. Of course, it's the wallpaper, so this isn't going to have any effect. He will go absolutely insane trying to get rid of the message box...the more computer illiterate the person is, the more effective this prank is.

You would need to do this with a Windows compiler. VB works very well for it, I'm sure FB could work too.

Why do something like this when somebody already has done this using Flash?

It isn't mine, but it's a fun prank if the user isn't computer-savvy.

Or you could just:
Take a Screen shot of the current desktop
Hide all desktop icons
Set the Screen shot as the desktop Background

Good idea. I wonder if you can use ActiveX to do this (if the person uses IE). . . After all, that's its purpose most of the time nowadays. . .

I made a qb program like that once. I took a picture of the desktop, loaded it and displayed it. When someone tried to press a key, I used the ol' down a drain gfx effect. My family who are not very computer oriented sorta freaked the first 100 times Tongue

Computer Stupidities (http://www.rinkworks.com/stupid). I can't find the specific article at the moment but I know I read it on that site somewhere.

Pretend to install a new fangled game that makes a user want to play it. Do a dummy install then make a popup requesting a restart. Next restart would be DOS with a fancy game playing. In the background you have started "format.com"...

Does FDisk have command-line options?

You can't perform tasks in the background in MSDOS 'cause there's simply no background Tongue

With one CPU all are serial on Windows and Linux too.
You can write inerrupt driven background task on MSDOS too.

You can write code like a mouse driver and format sector per sector every interrupt call.

What i mean is all seams to be parallel but this can only with two CPU's.

I meant that the OS doesn't give you multitasking support by default, as Windows or Linux do.
