Update... just a quick mockup, main point is the new house:

There's still some things that bug me (should be fairly obvious) but I think I'm heading in the right direction.
Studied this screenshot of FF6 for the 'cross-roof' design method:

EDIT: Okay, have another version... Not sure which looks 'better'. This new one is off in terms of perspective, but the wings of the cottage look less 'flat', I suppose:

Taking a break from houses to do cliffs... spent the past few hours working on this.

Still some things I need to do... but so far I'm really pleased with how it's going. Never thought I could do something like this.
EDIT: Another update, more tiles... the shadows are somewhat temporary-- and as such, blocky.

That pic with a "bridge" gave me an idea for FV, thanks..
Everything looks really nice, I wouldnt mind getting my hands on that tileset

Z!re: I actually got the 'bridge' idea from Chrono Trigger, in the mountain areas in that game you see that kinda thing a few times. Comparing my tiles with CT's cliffs, mine still pale in comparison, but hey... CT had more than just one guy on graphics, so I suppose I'm doing pretty well

Seriously, those cliffs rock! I mean, I was impressed with final fantasy 6's cliff's, but yours impress me more!
