I've looked into things, and found at that at least in canada, almost 50% of the price is government taxes, most of which we could do without.
The government had noted a few weeks ago that if the taxes were dropped it would make minor difference.
The prices rose as soon as the tsunami disaster struck, BUT there was absolutely no reason for that to effect our prices, as that is fairly southern of Canada, and since we import it from a close-to-border area, and as far as I can tell, the shipments are almost directly there, not even going anywhere near New Orleans.
The really sad thing is that here in Canada, we have tons of oil, but we don't mine it, as it would make canada fairly dependant on the source, and also, the government is a bunch of morons, and don't atleast invest in the oil mining process. It does give us a bit of benefit, but we are heavily dependant on outside sources, which may not be the best move.

Yeah, this is what I was talking about. No real linkage between what is really going on in an area and what you have to pay for it.

Quote:well, the USA in the '80s payed $90 per barrel (or something like that), and the gas prices would have been bad to be above 0.60 cents per litre (not sure about gallon pricing), and now they pay about $60 per barrel and we have gas prices above $1 per litre
i have confirmed barrel pricing, and today, the price was marked at $68.01 per barrel (i'm not sure if that's USD or CD)

After hearing all this, I guess I could consider myself lucky for gas prices to be at only $1.18 per litre, at the cheap places.
Nice thing about saskatchewan is, they're gonna lower their gas tax. They figure that'd lower gas prices by 7 cents.
The stupid thing is, we almost got as much oil as Alberta, if not more right now, and we're not using it.

I consider myself the luckiest.
I am 14, can't drive, and I have a bike. =P

Hehe. . . I'm 17, but don't have my driver's license yet. :-P
Does "bike" = "bicycle" or "motorized bicycle" (e.g. 'dirt bike', 'motorcycle', 'standard bicycle with motor', etc.)

Yeah, bike has multiple meanings, other wise its better to use:
Bicycle = Pedal bike
Electric Modified Bicycle = 'standard bicycle with motor'
Dirt Bike = (what else?)
:wink:
