who the f*** needs a manual with windows. and of course it was oem. And, it did in fact come with a "manual". Getting started with windows xp...this is the desktop. at that point i closed it. The manual isn't worth $60, trust me, its microsoft.

Well just use gedit to edit the bas file then simultaneously have
a console window up cd'ed to the bas dir.

Then, instead of pressing F5 the first time type in the console:
fbc file.bas[enter]
./file[enter]

The following times you "press F5" you instead do in the console:
[up][up][enter]
[up][up][enter]

It isn't that much harder Smile

Yeah, you'd get used to it eventually. In fact, I usually just open up Notepad in Windows XP (if I'm using Windows) to program in C++ or FB code. I already have the directories for gcc/g++ and fbc added to my PATH environment variable, so I just cd to the proper directory and then type a suitable line to compile. :-)

I have Dev-C++ and I only use that when I get tired of seeing the console's font with billions of errors (it's inevitable at some point) that scroll off-screen. Good thing XP has a scrollbar.
