Compile it for console rather than gui, that way it can be run from the console and you will get error messages returned if you've used the -exx switch.

The random crashing makes it very hard to actually enjoy.
It would be pretty good (albeit a bit slow) otherwise.

My computer doesn't seem to completely cooperate with freebasic, so that might be something wrong. For example, when palette fading, i often see static on the right hand side no matter who's code i run. Then when i run it on a different computer, it works beautifully. Same with sleep, and probably a few other things. :\ I'm kinda thinking it's just my computer acting up again instead of the game's fault.

Aside from crashing once when i killed one of the ghost things everything runs fine for me.
One problem, Why is it so hard to hit enemies? The sticks range is so short you have to be to the side of the enemy to hit it without taking damage. I haven't even completed the first dungeon i die so OFTEN because when ever i get in range to hit the enemy, the enemy hits me.

its a bit tricky but what I do is try and pin the monster in a corner then swing repeatadly, you hit it and it bounces back and it comes towards you again and you hit it, etc until its dead. Its a trick of waiting for it to come to you cuz its too hard to get close to it.

Collision detection definately needs some tweaking IMO...but since this is a beta version, I don't think we should expect things to be perfect right now.
