Look at this...

The problem with this controller, as well as with other Nintendo handheld devices, is ergonomy. Hold something rectangular, like your TV remote, as a controller. Try pressing the buttons quickly and repeatedly, like you would in a game. Look at your hands. Pretty uncomfortable isn't it? Now hold a PSX, Gamecube or Xbox controller. Note how it was designed to fit into your hands for a better grip. Obviously, the fit will depend on the size of your hand. However, these controllers are designed ergonomically and allow the player to play for a longer time, a feature essential to better game sales. If Nintendo used the same features they have in this "remote control" and incorporate it into a more ergonomically designed controller, it would probably be a hit, as the idea of steering with it is great, but the current design will leave many a player with carpal tunnel. You must remember that the average age of gamers is increasing, and tend to have more joint problems as they get older, thus ergonomy is essential. Have you held the Nintendo Micro? Unless you are a child, or have anorexic fingers, you can't play that thing. The buttons are way too small, too close together, my whole thumb covers the directional pad, and the thing is so damn small it's extremely uncomfortable to hold for more than 2 minutes. Hence why the idea of this controller is neat, but the implementation is all wrong.

I think keys on a keyboard are still too small. The Commodore 64/128 had the spacing and size right. Pity about the backwards layout though.
