The VC++ C++ compiler and VC++.net compiler are actaully seperate(although they are genearlly reffered to as one and the same).

the .net itself only comes into play when you creaete a .net application.

And yes, the .net versions are much nicer and easier/faster/better/whatever then the VC 6.0 version

Just keep in mind that for each version you'll need to ship the correct runtime dll, its about 300kb for the 2002 version. I dont know about the 2003 or 2005 dll sizes offhand.

However most people probably already have the corect runtime by now so you might not even need to ship it. (for the mingw fans the same story applies here, except everyone already has the dll, except for some old 95 usersr).
