Couldn't find Visual Basic 6.0 (or a simular compiler),
#1
I am making a ZZT clone, and I need
a compiler for Visual Basic 6.0 code!

And I also MIGHT want a
Quickbasic 4.5 Visual Basic 6.0 converter
Because I Found a ANSI editor and turning it into
a editor for it!

I want that OR a VB60 QBasic converter

Status:
ZZTQB source code
(Currently In Visual Basic 6.0 format)
ZZTQB Editor source code
(Currently In QuickBasic 4.5 format,
Still a ANSI editor, but works!)

If you can convert it for me, Email me at: JAJJMM@MSN.COM
Or if you made a converter, Go ahead and post it here!

Thanks

VB 6 sucks. If you're looking to get into VB, get VB.Net, it's far more powerful, and you can get it for free off MS's website.

Either that, or use FB if you want Windows code but you want to keep most of the original code intact.

Actually, VB.Net is quite a powerful language. It uses .Net, which is superior structurally-wise and organisation-wise to VB6, and it can use DirectX 9.0 (which VB 6 can't). I've tried it out, and I can say that I like it better than previous versions of VB. VB 6 was actually kind of a weak language IMO.

What makes you say it sucks?

Blah blah blah, thegrogen...enough with the language zealousy. I swear, the next person to start a language debate is gonna get beaten with the ugly stick.

And I say it sucks because not only has the language been cannibalized to something that is barely recognizable as proper BASIC, but you also need a 23MB runtime to run apps written for it.

Fuck that.

A 23Mb runtime which in turn does not run correctly on less than 256Mb of memory.... :barf:

23 MB? That's for VB 6, right? If you're having issues with 23MB of memory, you need a new harddrive... 23MB is insignificant next to the power of 60GB hard drives.

BTW .Net 2.0 is 122MB on my WinXP machine, so I can't really argue with you there. But at least it comes with the commandline compilers for both C# and Vb.net...

And for the record, I'm not saying that I LIKE VB (I don't really like the syntax, it's too mutilated for me), I'm just saying that VB.Net is better than previous versions of VB. No language zealotry involved. Actually, I've been accused of language zealotry before, but it was for FB (the guy actually accused me of trying to SELL FB...).

No. I'm pretty sure they mean 23MB of the RAM memory =p

Which I only have 128MB of.

Nosir...23MB is for vs.net. That's a 23MB compressed archive that expands to goddess-only-knows-how-large, and then eats up tons of ram when in use. VB6's memory footprint is WAY WAY WAY smaller, and the runtimes are less than 2MB UNCOMPRESSED.
