Oh man, don't remind me.
The guidebook was next to useless for figuring out what to do in situations like that, especially for an impatient 8- or 10-year-old.
By the way, did anyone ever play Amazon Trail? It was way too hard.
I don't think I ever got near completing it. It was a lot less interesting than Oregon Trail, too. The only cool part was that you started out in Peru, Indiana.
I also fondly remember some kind of math game involving a dog named Sparky by MECC, but I can't remember the title anymore. Ahh, those were the days...

Yeah...amazon trail was the sux0rz compared to oregon trail. I only got to a place where I could settle once...every other time my people died.
"You accidentially shot Jim while you were hunting, hold a proper burial or throw him in a ditch?"
I never read the manual, that could be why I was so bad at it.
I just administered the peppermint every time because at that time I thought it was a mint candy. Candy with magical powers! w00t! :lol:

@Barok: thanks
Quote:.....what more do you want to know? o.o we gave you the title of the game, not like you and your "out which is preceded by a break" or whatever ;p so hmpf!
I don't get that. Seriously.
EDIT: Oh, I remember. Not appliable. I was just giving hints, 'cause it was supposed to be a compo about making a game which could be controlled just with a mouse with no clickies. Breakout is so common that has became a genre, I found it very strange that nobody thought on that, but I didn't want to be that obvious and spoil all the fun. Very different scenario to this one, in which you are all talking about something and then someone who doesn't know about it becomes interested and asks.
Something in the fashion of "It's an old game very popular around here which we all played when we were little" would have been enough. You know, googling from "oregon trail" brings up 1,000,000 pages. It's like googling for "San Francisco car".

To be honest, I don't remember the Oregon Trail at all, except I wasn't all that good at it and it fricken kicked arse.
There was this gold-mining game that I liked a lot too. Problem is I couldn't get the hand of saving correctly so when I loaded all the gold I mined was gone ;_;
