What metal do you listen to?
#51
What I think about nu metal: Premade, fake bands, corporate logos, lots of money in the backside, premade-hits (y'know, those hits that are hits before being released). It is like heavy, thrash, or whatever-metal but converted to pop to amuse a bigger (and more ignorant) audience.

Example: Evanescence, or whatever it is spelled. Listen to it: Double backed vocals over heavy guitars that are so compressed that they barely sound. The girl's voice (well, the three voices mixed all-together) makes me feel sick. And they even dared to cover that Smashing Pumpkins' masterpiece called Zero... They shredded it, they must die. Btw, the two main men have left the band. Evanescence will last two daily news.

Wow, talk about reviving a great topic Big Grin

I guess since I missed this originally, I should respond to it now...

My personal favorite metal bands are:

Emperor
Dissection
Dimmu Borgir (when they were good)
Cradle Of Filth
Ancient
Lord Belial
Killing Addiction
Kreator
Iron Maiden
Disown
Old Man's Child
Sacramentum
Nile (I met them personally when I was a college radio DJ)

Other metal I listen to:
Tool (old Tool, first two albums, not newer Prong-wanabe garbage)
Pro-Pain
Metallica (pre-Bob Rock sellout days)
Rob Zombie (yeah yeah, some people think he's a hack, I like his songs so eat me Tongue )
Dio
Therion
Iced Earth
and probably half a million more...

and of course...I will always love Ozzy/RJD-led Black Sabbath. Big Grin

EDIT: Oh...it's hard to call them metal per se, but Finland's Stratovarius just owns. Big Grin
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

I thought a couple of Evanescene's songs were pretty good. I got involved with music since like 2000 or something, so I wouldn't know if any band is copying any other band. Well, some are just obvious crap and are one hit wonders for some reason. Although I do remember alot of the old stuff that my older brother listened to.

Linkin Park would probably be considered Nu Metal. Ozzy's hard rock at best...imo, he's boring without Black Sabbath behind him. Big Grin

Ahem coughcoughcough.... They've been around for over 5 years, they make their own art and songs. Just cos they can draw better than you doesn't mean you have to hate them Tongue

And definately not like the Backstreet Boys. The BSBs are trying their hardest to look gay Wink

1.- They don't draw better than me

2.-ALL THEIR SONGS SOUND LIKE THE SAME THING! -> 1st mellow part, then rap part, then shouting, then mellow, then rap, then shouting, then shouting + rap.

Tongue

It's just me.

... you should try listening to My December, From the Inside et al. They make some different types of songs as well Wink

Besides, don't all songs just sound the same these days? For example, rock = verse + chorus + verse + chorus + bridge + chorus.
