I eat cheese about once a month.
And by "organic" I mean no artificial flavorings/pesticides used. It's incredibly stupid how scientists can be...they claimed that margarine was a healthy alternative...no, not true. PCBs, used on food a while back. A lot of people have cancer because of this.
And a lot of people aren't "healthy" when they eat health food - why do you think they changed their diet? I know of at least 3 people that had cancer, doctors were sure that they wouldn't live. They switched to an all-organic, macrobiotic, no-meat diet, and guess what? Cancer's gone.
Also, eating non-organic promotes the creation of extremely environmentally dangerous chemicals.
Oh, and if you eat steak, cheese, and any other potentially "unhealthy" food in moderation, it can be beneficial.

Another thing that many MANY people are unaware of is just how important calcium is to your diet. The simple mineral Calcium has been shown to reduce cancer probability by over 90%, and a person who already has cancer can send it into remission by greatly increasing their calcium intake. Of course, you have to watch that you don't exceed a certain level of calcium intake or else you start developing other health problems.

Another important nutrient that we all need, and as a society have lacked in the last 150 years or so, is the omega3 fatty acid. This is present in a lot of fish oils and some nuts and seeds, as well as some other foods. Most people nowadays when they hear the word "fat", they think "bad". Well, what they are thinking about is omega9, or saturated animal fat. Omega6, or monounsaturated fat, I believe is found in some...plants??? I think. Anyways, polyunsaturated fat, or omega3, is most often missing from the diet, and has some of the most profound effects on human health. For one, it protects the brain. It prevents too much calcium from being put into the brain cells (too much calcium intake into the cells causes cellular suicide, the glutamate is uncontrollable), hence protecting them from death. Anyone with bipolar disorder (like myself) faces brain damage from cellular suicide caused by this overwhelming calcium intake into the brain cells. Some say that the "decline" of society over the last 100 or so years is at least somewhat related to the lack of this essential fatty acid. It has some other important health factors as well. I've heard that it has some pretty good health benefits for your cardiac muscle (I used to be a medical transcriptionist with a specialty in coronary intervention).

Anyways, there's more to health than meets the eye, and certainly more to it than you see on television. If you really want a good picture of health, you will need to do a lot of research, first of all, and second of all, never fool yourself. Right now, I'm on an omega3 supplement which actually takes the edge off of my bipolar disorder. Down here in PR, people don't tend to eat very healthy, but food is a major part of the culture. And that's another thing to watch out for...cultural diet issues. So...there's lot to read and learn about, and my suggestion to all of you is to actually get out there and do some research rather than cooking up (pun intended) an opinion based on the very few opinions you've heard from health nuts. Smile

Flax seed oil is delicious and contains a very large amout of omega3s. And kale with Rotev T'khinah? On of my favorite snacks. And seriously, whenever I eat anything unusual, i.e. pastrami, etc., it maked me neauseous. That's the main reason I don't eat those things very often.

BTW Rotev T'khina=Tahini (ground sesame dip) dressing.

I don't get the point in not wanting to eat meat, or fish, or vegatables or anything. If you go down to the basics it's all the same.

Let's take a cow for example: Does a cow ever eat meat? nope. What is a cow full of? meat. So where'd you guess that comes from... the grass and stuff it eats.
So if the cow can turn grass into meat (you must admit that it's musces grow during it's lifetime), I'd rely on my body to turn that cow-meat into whatever it needs.

BTW, food will not make you healthy alone, you'll need to use your body, run yourself flat now and then. And, laughing and sunshine is said to be good for your health, too.

Unfortunately, none of us are cows. I do not speak for my mother or most of my ex gf's though.

Anyways...yeah, laughter and sunshine are good for your health. Hence why video game addicts are unhealthy coz they spend too much time in front of the TV becoming pale. Tongue From what I understand, sunlight helps your skin effectively utilize vitamin D. And laughter is good because it stimulates endomorphin production. Sleep is also good for you, not only for the obvious but also because a lack of sleep reduces your brain's seratonin, which leads to emotional instabilities and with that comes stress which causes a whole host of problems which I'm sure all you late-night coders know a whole lot about (not speaking from experience, really...honestly!!!ConfusedhiftySmile

Ehh... right. I had that much figured out... Smile I was trying to prove my point in everything being the same. I guess I should have put it in another way.

Anyways. Eat whatever you want, just don't expect anyone else to agree. If you think it does something for you, ok with me, and you shouldn't care what anyone says.

Food/health debates are always fun, but like most debates on this public forum, eventually someone flips out and it turns into a flame war. I'm glad this hasn't happened yet. Smile

You didn't have to tell us that. We know those things could never possibly happen to you
