Quote:(sorry, I had to use .txt 'cause the #@#|@# server doesn't allow hot-linking certain file types).
Cheers.

nathan: i think diroga means like using ftp, cause i can rename files with ftp exploere, after theyre already uploaded.

diroga: even if he did that though the problem is in the actual 'hot-linking' of the files once theyre uploaded.

(hot linking = <a href = "file.nam">file</a> if ya didnt know.)

EDIT:

Meg: I d/ld ur stuff, but cant get it to work... it keeps looking for sub exist, but cant find it. Sad that code is nuts though u r very patient!!

I still don't understand. I uploaded the file as a TXT 'cause Lycos lets you link them from anywhere, but BAS (and ZIPs, EXEs and any other non-document file) can only be opened from a lycos page.

Anyhow, what's the issue?

A "Document" to me (in the web) is a HTML page, a TXT file, a PDF or a DOC or whatever. Any other kind of file will most likely attempted to be opened by your browser and will fail so it'll try to download the file. When that happens (this is the case with a BAS file) from within a lycos server the hotlinking protection acts displaying a "files can only be downloaded from within a lycos page". Document files as they are known in the web (sorry, but this is the first time that I've read someone call "document" to a BAS file) can be directly linked, that is, HTML files and TXT files. As I had to link it from here I had to rename it as a TXT. Anyhow, what's the deal? Is it so difficult for the people to rename a single file?

7 minutes download?

Next time I'll stay behind and won't try to help. Everything here is an issue... People complain about copying/pasting, then people coplaining about changing a damned file extension. Next time people will complain about having to click on links.
