The dream is over, goodbye disney

I don't know why everyone always tries to make it look like whenever people take a step forward in something, they're becoming technological maniacs and are getting lazy. This "Polar Express" movie that's coming out is nowhere near lazy from what I've seen. In fact, the 3D is so good, that they could have just used real people, but they chose to go with 3D. When I'm watching a movie, I could care less for the actual method they took in putting it on, just as long as the final product is enjoyable, which a lot of the times, it is. That's why Shrek is such a popular movie (which for some reason, people like to disguise that fact with "overrated").

The only reason I prefer my games in actual 2D, is because when you do it in 3D, it doesn't look like the developers wanted it to look. You get a bunch of blocky models and clipping and stuff. If we came out with 3D games, that had the exact detail and look of a 2D SNES game, people would probably still be complaining, even if it looked more beautiful.

Now, I'm not exactly rooting for 3D, but I'm not rooting against it either. My art style of choice is 2D, but if you saw some of my 2D Animation show up in a movie, then trust me, you wouldn't be calling it an "animated masterpiece" Wink.I understand why people would perfer the 2D sprites of a game like Secret of Mana, to the blocky models of Final Fantasy 7, but in the case of 3D movies, which seem to all have been done quite well... I don't see the problem.

There are more than disney.. take warner brothers for example. Look at bugs bunny. There's a classic if i've ever seen one.

yeah, i know that there is more out there than disney, so much more. but my dream was to be an animator for disney, not some other place. but it look's like i'll have to aim for WB or MGM. or maybe universal, i heard that they were applying a new french style of animation that was choppy, but refined. weird stuff, but the overall product looked ok.

I don't care what you say, some things should never change in my opinion. pretty soon, cartoons will look just like real people in a real enviroment. thats not what a cartoon is, if you wanted it to look so damn real, why don't you just hire actors. a cartoon is exactly what it is, a cartoon, not a 3D realistic animation.
the mind is a beautiful thing, use it and make the world a more beautiful place.

I second the motion - I've never understood that either.

Did anyone ever see the land before time/amerian tale films?

I just found out recently they were made in a studio in ireland - I thought that was kinda cool - and they we fucking disney quality - if not, better, so there's hope for you yet. Small studio's in arsehole countries are an option.

I personally feel here that disney deserve to go bankcrupt there only care seemingly is to make money, and the only reason for making films is to do that.

<--- Saw Pixar's The Incredibles

<--- Thinks that Pixar has a future without Disney by its side after all

<--- Saw the trailer for Pixar's Cars

<--- Weeps.
