All About FreeBasic Documentation
#31
Well, the fact there is nothing is just funny.
I don't doubt people documenting is doing things. Only say if they keep sending the versions and updates by e-mail or there is a huge database growing in someone's PC, what's the point of the CVS server?

Don´t miss the point here...

I don´t complain about someone not doing something. This is all done freely and for free, so everything, what´s been done is appreciated.

What I was wondering about is that there is the way exactly described to find nothing...thats all.

A programming language is useless without people who know how it works. And to me it seems as if just the developers really know about that. (not mentioned the daily changes)

As I try to support this thing in my way (german website), I depend on these informations, I am ready to look for. For this I spend much time and I like it. Much support from many people is needed to make freebasic mean something. Most of them depend on information about it for making their contribution.

That´s the way and that´s all, no big deal.

It's 'cause those instructions to connect to the CVS are for people who want to help with the developing. The first step was to set up the CVS, now the second step is to fill it.

I agree that without docs things are a bit useless, but freeBASIC is three? months old and you know, it's on his very first infancy. Coordinating a documentation project is very hard, and the first step is defining the formatting and things like that, and that's what has been done so far, AFAIK.

Anyhow, fB shares the same syntax and most commands of QB, so it ain't that difficult. Just code like you did in QB, and if it doesn't work, ask here. I'm afraid that, by the moment, that's the only thing you can do.

:???: there's stuff in the CVS:

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/fr...mentation/

make sure you check out the module 'CVSROOT' because Jofers decided just to put everything in there... I don't know why. Smile

Blame sourceforge. It was the only way I could get in. As for the nothing guy... relax, and use nex's docs in the meantime.

There is no nothing guy, I am relaxed. Reading is not enough, understanding would be better...

Well, that's what we're here for, you see.

What's bugging you?

You didn´t read what I said, and try to tell me, relax man and call me the nothing guy, that´s the thing that was bugging, but not me....
Only wrong words at the wrong time, no big deal as I said before.

Ah. My mistake, sir. You mentioned "understanding", I figured you had a freebasic quesiton.

If you have any suggestions for the documentation, speak up, it's still a young project and I'd like to hear from people.

Why not work together with Nexinarus. He did a big part of the documentation already. As he allowed me to do with it whatever I want to, I think he did not mean personally me.

Would be a good starting point wouldn´t it?
