Windows XP Problems
#21
The reverse order sort is a new feature in XP explorer. It's a dumb feature but it's a feature nonetheless. It would be far better if you could just choose ascending or descending sort. Also, the sort by Type works fine here. It just has a weird way of sorting.
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

You can change the sort order by changing the file view to "details", clicking on the field you want to sort until the order is correct, and then changing the file view back to what it was before.

Quote:You are of course probably quite right, as I think I have now found the problem. I previously set the folder options to ‘Open each folder in its own window’ assuming this to mean once a window is set it will stay the same. Now I have changed to ‘Open each window in the same window’ which I thought meant it would take the drastic action of making ALL windows look the same!!

It would seem my sense of logic is quite different to MS; so goodness knows what these phrases really mean. But I think someone else posted it had the same problems

Thanks all. Gordon

Did it not occur to you it meant open the folder and display its contents in another window so you have two on the screen, useful for draging files/folders into other folders etc .
