The pope is dead.
#31
Someone said Jesus was god...I don't understand where this misconception comes from...he is the son of God...

As for the whole argument about the Pope...well I've said what I had to say, and I'm keeping out of this one for a change...

Except I will say that the idea that homosexual people are treated as a substandard breed is...wrong. I'm straight and will remain straight, but that doesnt make me better than a gay.

The Pope has never treated homosexual people as a substandard breed. Once again, he was against homosexual marriage (marriage as a holy sacrament of God), the opposition have grounds in the Bible and all Popes before JP2 shared the same opinion. He also was against sex without marriage, adultery. Many people, Catholics, have sexual contacts without marriage, not only gays. None of them are considered as a substandard breed by the Catholic Church. But sin is sin in the Catholic Church. Nobody is promising in the CC that the path to God is easy, but that the God is merciful - yes.

Quote:6. You CANNOT compare humans with animals.
--A. God made us in his image + likeness (ever see a baby?)
--B. We have free will
--C. To satisfy human pleasure stands in the way of your relationship with God.
Humans ARE animals. We're a very advanced, highly evolved form of mammal. To satisfy human pleasure is to do what nature tells us to do. To deny this is to deny our own human existence...and our reason for existence.

Quote:7. You're right, people will not advoid sex. We sin all the time. That's why Jesus made the sacriment of Confession (Around the Last Supper time he said to his apostles: the sins you forgive are forgiven and the sins you retain are retained). He gave them the power to do it.
You make it sound like people who have sex are "sinning". What a load of bullshyte. And how does it make sense to kill one person for the sake of others? That's like if I kill your child because my child peed on the neighbor's roof or something. Again, that's bullshyte.

Quote:8. You know for someone who doesn't want have anything to do with the Catholic Church you care a lot about how the Pope 'destroyed' it...
As defined by the human rights constitution set forth by the UN, we all have the right to free speech. Therefore, na_th_an has every right to not only be interested in but also to speak his mind about whoever or whatever he wants and there isn't a single thing in this world that you can do about it. Deal with it.

Quote:9. You use the phrase you will go to hell too lightly AND in the wrong way. I posted before the ONLY instance that WE as humans believe you MIGHT go to hell. God has the last say.
Read your Bible again.

Quote:10. You can choose anywhere. But your're saying how they are being fed 'misinformation' and leading them to the wrong conclusions. Dude samething has happened to you....
Yeah...he woke up.

Quote:11. You keep saying that they live in a complete hell, but I don't see you helping them.
You're not helping them either, are you? No? Didn't think so. So what does that make you? A hypocrite.

Quote:12. 1 thing. When you have nothing you find God. You live in a developed country too.
When you have nothing, you have nothing. That's the way it is. "Finding God" is a convenient buffer that the Church can use to cushion the blow of life's harsh cruelties and in the meantime, attempt to boost their dwindling membership. You call it mercy...I call it predatory.
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

church is just dope for the masses

if you believe the bible you know that everything we need is already inside of us (holy spirit (conscience?? consciousness??)), and that our conscience is to be our guide beyond what has been set in stone.

ever hear the story about eating the meat that was sacrificed to idols?? some people believed it was wrong, because, it was sacrificed to false gods.

but the lesson of the story is that, just because its wrong for one person, doesn't mean its wrong for everyone. if your conscience tells you its wrong, and you go against it, you are wrong. but if you can do it with a clear conscience (NOT a callous one) then, go for it.

further, it tells us that to judge one another over 'gray' issues such as these, is wrong. its also wrong to disrespect someone elses views.
i.e. someone believes homosexuality isnt right, if you believe it is, and perhaps even ARE homosexual, you should not lay a "stumbling block" for that person to become upset by provoking them, or openly disagreeing with their views. this kind of stuff is all over the new testament.

its all about love and respect.

Well, I really don't have time for this.

But Z!re...at least say something.

Well, I just want to clear up something. Jesus is both God and the Son of God. They are the same. We believe that God is a trinity of 3 beings that are separate but same. 1The Father, The Son, Holy Spirit.

But anyways this is my last post here...

But I would like to say 1 last thing.
Even if all of this is still shit if you look at what the Church has done to help people and poor families and those people out in Africa....I am proud to be a Catholic.
