Ralph, I saw your posts on the Foronet forum in the Quickbasic sub-forum. Very good contributions. You added enough posts there to sustain that sub-forum for months!
You mention the word "hits". What do you mean, replies or views? In my opinion, views don't count for anything. If you post a question or a challenge and get 60 views and zero replies, the issue is as good as dead.
You say the site is well organized. Yeah, like an empty football stadium. If only a few 100 fans show up for an important game, it's a failure.
Quote:Let's all us Spanish-speaking QuickBASIC users just continue to visit that site regularly, contributing what we can more frequently. This is the only way to maintain the site that I can think of.
What you said here is the bottom line.

By "hits", I now see that I meant "views". As far as a thread receiving only views, you would think that the subject was dead. Yes, but I have thought that, sometimes, maybe the viewers just feel intimidated by the grand masters who usually respond, and, so, don't even try to put in their two-bits worth.
As to the second part, the one urging us to visit regularly and try to contribute more often, thank you, I agree thorougly with you. Now, let's hope those Spanish-speaking QBers who see this will accept that fact and react positively!

If we double posted our questions and findings there perhaps we would wake it up!
This was updated by Antoni on Tue Nov 29, 2005 8:08 am, with the new post which, in part, read:

I first noticed the above in late December. I then proceded to enter various posts in that Spanish website. I found that, outside of Antoni Gual, the response was very poor! A number of folk who called themselves moderators had decided to open a new site, since the current one had been abondended by its source person and the moderators seem to be locked out of doing anything there.
Here we are, three months and a half later, and, what do we have? No news of the new site, plus, very poor participation of the "bad" site, which now is non-responsive.
I hesitated to report such a sad state of affairs, but, as long as most of those who call themselves moderators seem to not particpate in trying to make things happen, my prediction is that failure is just around the corner, if it hasn't already arrived.
So, if something is to happen, make it happen real soon, please! And, how about posting a realistic date as to when and where it is to happen? Plus, a list of the current, official moderators-to-be of the new site?
Oh, and one thing more. PLEASE do not post Spanish translations done by a non-person translator. The translation usually comes out being gibberish to the Spanish-only speaking person, and a laughable caricture to the Spanish-and-English speaking person.

Yeah, I don't know what's happening at the Spanish site. I haven't been able to log-in there in for about a week. Maybe they're making changes. Who knows.

What happens to the spanish site? Have you seen the title?
The present mods say they don't have admin rights, so I guess that old forum is dead forever. I hope they announce the new forum somewhere if they put it up....

Yes, I saw the "Hacked" heading, but don't know how to interpret that. You can still go in and read existing posts. I'm just not able to sign-in.
Perhaps you're right, and it's dead forever.

Oh, and, how is it that the last post to appear is an advertisement for a Canadian pharmacy? Was that a hack, or what?

Well, all existing accounts are cancelled, and I started receiving spam in an e-mail address free of it for two years.
I will not sign on again....
