Quote:I think a more accurate question would be:
Has anyone here NOT played with Lego? Tongue
Well you do realize that is the false version of the post...so far the answer to that is no.

My favorite was LEGO technic sets - the more gears, joints, and other moving parts the better. Too bad I never got any pneumatic or battery powered ones. Things that moved when you turned a crank (mostly helicopters and spring loaded rotating barrel "machine guns") was the best I could do, but I still loved it.

It was fun to ignore the instruction booklets and use my imagination - LEGO peices were pretty well standardized back then. But now when I see LEGO sets in toy stores they always have lots of weird specialized pieces that would be useless for anything else... oh well.

I have about 1600 pieces. [mostly NOT the specialized ones, only a few types.... mini megablocks]

I have a Lego building near my bed, which I should be approaching shortly.

My first Lego building was a Chinese temple with the yellow (gold) thingimmuts sticking out the sides and a yellow (gold) pyramidal roof. Those things break easily though, especially one layer. My current building has a flat 2 layer roof. (Or is it 3?)

My walls and roofs are almost always staggered like so:

Lego is too expensive in my country (well, not now as it costs the same as everywhere else, but when I was a kid, it was überexpensive), so I played to a Spanish alternative that was quite popular here, mainly 'cause it featured more or less the same stuff but it costed around 1/2 or 1/3 the price (relatively). No, it wasn't "compatible" with Lego

I still keep a huge box full of blocks Tongue I love it.

Zack I totally agree about the whole "Legos" thing. In fact:

Quote:Proper Use of the LEGO Trademark on a Web Site
If the LEGO trademark is used at all, it should always be used as an adjective, not as a noun. For example, say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGO BRICKS". Never say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGOs".Also, the trademark should appear in the same typeface as the surrounding text and should not be isolated or set apart from the surrounding text. In other words, the trademarks should not be emphasized or highlighted. Finally, the LEGO trademark should always appear with a ® symbol each time it is used.

:P

And yes, I love Lego. Got a huuuuge stash of it (mainly technic). I like building tanks and stuff that have air engines (pneumatic driven). They are very powerful :D

I probably have about the same amount. Two nice big cardboard boxes full, give or take. My brother likes it too, most of the stuff is his, my eldest brother and even my dad has added to the collection with stuff they had as kids. We're talking Lego from the 70s and 80s - strange stuff.
