Have/Are you play -ed/-ing with LEGO?

I love the stuff! What stinks is the specialized parts, and the lack of toy store stock also. The cost is a bit ripe too. LEGO Mindstorms 2 is about $350AU for the basic kit. I'll buy it one day. Like when I was a kid there was this Formula 1 car (I think) with a V6 or V8 in it. I though it rocked, only at $200AU at the time there was no way my parents would buy it. That was like a week's wages! I would like to start a store in a big city that sells JUST LEGO! Then franchise it internationally.

First, I need to pay bills...

If you mean the V8 Supercar, HELL YEAH! I got that kit and its the best one Ive owned. 4 speed V8, 4wd, 4 wheel steering, rear engine with engine hood that opened, and a realistic drivetrain with 3 differentials, independant suspension, adjustable wing mirrors(hehe).. the list goes on.. :D

Lego is awesome! Apparently, the levels from metal gear solid were created using lego. Tongue

I wholeheartedly agree on the "specialized parts crap" that everyone is talking about. It takes away the imagination, the need to improvise in order to create what you need. I loved lego, and I would spend days on end building stuff. I can't count the number of buildings i created using lego, only to destroy them afterwards by lego war-vehicles. Tongue For some reason the building's defenses were always inferior.

Lego is so expensive though, so i never had very much... I usually ended up going for the megablocks alternative, which is a cheaper version of lego: cheaper materials and it uses so many specialized parts that it isn't funny. Furthermore, if i bought anything, it usually was the buckets of bricks, since it was so much cheaper than the sets. I only really got sets during christmas or birthdays.

I never really got too much into the technic stuff. I had a kit of technic parts, but i didn't like it as much as lego. Tongue

As for them entering the pc/console market, heh... They shouldn't of tried. Those games were terrible.

LEGO is way more customizable

wtf? :???: I've been extremely creative in a k'nex session one time.. you should've seen me. we got some pictures, but I think they were destroyed when the apartment burnt down.

anyways......
i know k'nex aren't the best for making buildings/harry potter scenes etc, but since i mainly use it to make vehicles i like it a ton more. Also, if you build a vehicle or something you can abuse it pretty bad and it won't shatter a million pieces.
oh, probably technic is also a ton better for vehicles, but since I never got technic, well I like the next best thing to me, k'nex.
