anyways im intrigued by this Lego Mindstorms 2.0 thing. im waiting for my Wired mag to come in this month (my dad baught me a subscr.) which sucks cuz my dads mag already came in for the month and im being teased becase i saw the cover before he took it away. it has something about the lego thing, and i wanna know!!!

so from what i understand, Lego Mindstorms came first in 1998. then Vex came in 2005. now Lego has a new Mindstorms NXT coming out in 2006 that will rock. Althogh i dont know about that. it looks dumber than the Vex. but what can you really tell just from a pic, right?

Considering Vex is new and unknown, and Lego Mindstorms is old and proven, if I was putting my money into it, I would buy that which is old and proven.

no because the Vex is in the same class as the NEW Lego Mindstorms they are coming out with in 2006. the old mindstorms from 1998 are a different level altogether, because they are outdated and more for kids.

It looks interesting, but personally I would go with Mindstorms.

I have the 1.5, but the new Mindstorms NXT that is coming out looks really dumbed down :( although it has some really cool new sensors - ultrasonic being one of them. But yeah - Really dumbed down :<

yeah the dumbed down thing is what turns me off. i like Vex because they said its even fun for professionals to mess around with.
