Oracle!!!! :x I don't feel threatend by my police!!!!! I know many personally, I am considering going into a career in Law enforcement (ie. Swat) All I'm saying is I enjoy the freedom here... I'm not by any means scared about anyone breaking in and trying to kill me... but if it does happen, That guy will be missing some limbs Wink I enjoy recreational shooting, and it's not something I'm willing to give up... I'm and very sad to here how frowned upon guns are in Europe (and NZ) Sad In East Texas, almost everyone has at least umm 7 guns! Wink And we have little crime, it's really great down here.
Quote:Yeah, this is the reason the States has such a runaway gun problem with somebody somewhere getting shot every 30 seconds

I like Bill Hicks stand on this:
Quote:....Lets go over those numbers again 'cause they are a little baffling at first. England, where no one has handguns, fffffourteen deaths. America, and you know how we feel about handguns, Im getting a warm tingly feeling just saying the word, twenty three thousand deaths. But there is no connection between having a handgun and shooting someone with it and not having one and not shooting someone and you would be a fool and a communist to make one.

Quote:In NZ: 18 for drinking, smoking etc.
I think that's stupid. 18 year olds aren't old enough or smart enough to drink (and drive: 15 years old, can you believe?) or smoke.
Agreed. I work part-time as a barman and glassee, and the biggest morons and trouble makers are between the ages of 18 and 25. Older people are usually easier to deal with and tend to respect staff when they are told they have had enough or need to leave. Smoking is just plain dumb these days with the amount of information available about its affects.
UQB, I'd say with all that evidence you are in trouble. Little crime, you say? Where did you get those stats, a Gun Rally? Seriously, over here in NZ, and even in England, murder is considered to be a front page news item. People actually get angry when it happens, there are petitions afterwards to bring back the death penalty etc... it's sad how over in america murder is only front page worthy if someone does a Columbine...

I work in a supermarket that is over the road from a police station, and on thursday nights the police fill our carpark with unmarked cars to catch guess who? 18-25 year old boy racers. And I'm sick of hearing on the news how the boy racers say that they "haven't got anywhere to go, so we'll burn up the streets until you give us somewhere". That's like murderers saying "You're not giving us anyone to kill so we'll kill these people untill you find us someone better". Hello, boy racing is against the law...
alright, the german law..........

well,.........

i guess germany law's the freakin' best..........

the first time i toucht liquor was when i was eight (wine). Right now i'm 16 years old (i'll be 17 on june, 31, please congratulate). we actually get anything we won't........just try to stay onyer toes while ordering alcohol at your favorite store and you'll get whatever you want.....all the cashier wants is money. well, the most funky stuff i ever drunk was vodka at 80%....yes, this'll hook you up. i smoke till two years........nuthin legal, but who cares.....

the latest law in germany also disallows wine under 18 years (gotta correct mich'l (akOOma)).........

well, our "moving day" will be just the very "drinking and get drunk" we ever wanted........even our last "moving day" (or how'd you call it) was all about drinking and having fun....

17 crates of beer are orderd (for 26 guys and chix) + loads of
vodka and similar stuff.........everything has to be drunk in 20 hours.

"I think that's stupid. 18 year olds aren't old enough or smart enough to drink (and drive: 15 years old, can you believe?) or smoke. "

well, oracle, that depends on when you started to drink or smoke(dudes, never start smoking, i hate it.......well, i do it cuz i have to....i'm stuped, i'm just a qb programmer).....
it all depends on the law in yer country. if you get used to liquor and you can manage to come along with it it's okay......if you drink cuz your friends do: damn you!

liquor makes you more freely and much more open to others......

simpsons quote: "it's like a party in your head and everyone is invited!"

well, my attitude is as follows:

try everyting you're open to (no drugs beside liquor and cigs), but if oyu don't enjoy it, don't do it!

cheers/mariuz (just drinking a tasty "KROMBACHER" beer)

post script:
no offence to anyone who doesn't drink or smoke or anything. it's just the country and the law......we're all slaves of out law....., so don't get me wrong.......

I disagree, Ive seen the dangerous effects of liquor first hand often with people who thought they could handle it. I work in a heavy rock music bar, so we do tend to get some heavy people in. I have seen a guy get a wooden chair smashed over his head, a girl get a broken nose on the dance floor when a someone threw a punch and the intended recipent ducked, I helped clean a guy up after he got punched over in the toilets because one of regulars thought he was getting smart (the regular landed himself a lifetime ban), our head of security had perfume sprayed in his eyes after refusing to let someone in, we had 3 toilets smashed within the space of a month (no mean feat considering we don't allow steelcaps in the bar), Ive had a group of about seven guys errupt into a brawl in front of the bar and I have even seen girls headlocked and walked out the door by security because they got violent or abusive. If that sort of thing goes on in a controlled environment, imagine what is happening in uncontrolled places; parties while parents are away, drink driving, etc.

What the government fails to realise is that whatever age they set for drinking legally, alcohol we become available to the age group two or three years below also because older siblings, friends or simply any passer by who will buy alcohol for a favour (Ive been asked by kids as young as 14 to buy them some alcohol in exchange for keeping the change).

Drinking is a difficult thing to actually manage, because you arent completely in control of yourself when drunk (I know, Ive done some really stupid things when drunk, which seemed like a perfectly good idea at the time).
Agreed again Loose. I have never touched alcohol, and never intend to. Or cigarettes (they are just stupid, but they kill stupid people  ).

You can drink wine at the age of 16, but vodka mix drinks (with lemon or so) are only allowed with the age of 18...

but who cares??? I'M WORKING IN A DRINK MARKET....HEHEHEHEHE
ain't sangria = wine?

(arg, my back hurts............meine wirberlsäule ist verrutscht, deshalb war ich nicht in der schule)

(sorry for that)

Amen...

Hey! I'm not stupid, I've just decided how I want to die.
