Quote:Just tested that one out, firefox certianly is a bit faster than IE! Also I use firfox simply because it up-to-date. Also I find that it doesn't have a habit of crashing, oh and tabbed browsing!¬

Good to see you approve of Firefox as well =D Welcome aboard ;D

Because I don't need "more". I've never had a problem Wink

Please, enlighten me. Seriously. Show me a web page that renders incorrectly in IE and correctly in firefox.

http://texturizer.net/firefox for a start. Try it...

Quote:I want to see what does IE so bad. Don't talk me about W3C or whatever it is called, I don't even know what it is Tongue. Just show me facts.

I'm really curious, just that.

Well, we have to talk about the w3. They're like the "law", but actually they make "guidelines" really instead of rules. So Mozilla follows them. But IE wants to grab a huge market share so they don't fix layout problems because according to them if they did fix bugs then many existing sites would break.

Anyway, that's one example, the subOracle style is another, qbnz.com isn't perfect, pages for linux and mozilla in general aren't done well... the list goes on and on.

However, I hear that a new version of IE might be being developed for longhorn. Maybe that will fix some of the more basic bugs (pngs, positioning), then I won't complain so much anymore. I won't blame them if they don't support SVG or any of the new technologies, but at least a fast forward to *this* millenium would be nice.

And all you others: If all you care about is how fast a program starts then shame on you. Show a little patience! At least Mech seems to have made an effort to try something new... you wouldn't buy quake if it started in less than a second but had crap graphics, would you?
ehem... quake does start in half a second and 'does' have crap graphics

i'm currently using 75% IE and 25% FireFox. mainly because sometimes i go on the internet for somthing quick. firefox still takes about a year to start up on my computer. i also use IE when i'm browsing through my documents, and remember something i needed to grap off the internet and whatnot. so really i only use firefox when i feel like i'll be on the web for a long while... firefox and a liter of Dr. Pepper Big Grin
I just have firefox in my start-up group, so it's always running. Then it's just alt-tab, f6, type address, then either just enter or alt-enter if I already have another page open.

I can't see anything wrong, the page renders correctly... Should I post a screenshot?

I still can't see, as a user, any need to change to Mozilla. You may be used to tab-browsing, but that's just a different interface. Like when some people prefer the MSVC IDE and others say it is crap and they prefer DevC++'s.

This is different. When you are working on the PC, the faster your application starts, the better. At least for me. If I have to wait 30 seconds for Mozilla to start, I just don't use mozilla, 'cause IE takes 1 second.

Tongue You firefoxers are like linux users and christians: always trying to convert people to your religion

It appears to render correctly, but it doesnt. Try clicking on the links in the sidebar. Also it shows news on that page, right? It isnt supposed to.

Why are you quoting yourself? :rotfl:. Actually Oracle wrote that =P.

Nobody is trying to convert you. You wont change your browser just because someone on a forum says so. You are defending IE, similarly we are defending Firefox, Mozilla. And please dont bring religion into this :normal:.
Links on the sidebar work. They also turn orange when I hover over them.

The news appear as well... They shouldn't, fine. No real problem, isn't it?

I get it : I should download and use Firefox to be able to see the Firefox webpage right...
I guess we will have to wait for Oracle to clarify which version of IE he saw that page being rendered incorrectly.
You bozos are still arguing over this? Sheesh.

1. FireFox is a great browser. If you want it to start up faster, ENABLE THE OPTION FOR IT. This is another case of the problem being between the keyboard and the chair. Tongue

2. The DevC++ IDE sucks. Gimme VC++ anyday. Tongue

3. Quake had and has great graphics. Anyone who says differently is an elitist bonehead who has forgotten their roots. Big Grin
