I think also think gameplay is a big role in games these days, but I still love a game with good graphics. I mean, come on. If you see a game which has beautiful graphics these days, it does make you go "oooooh!", doesnt it Wink

I love Halo Soooo much, because It combines oodles of everything that makes a great game. First of all, the story is there. A very original, invloving plot which really has you on edge the entire time. Then there is the gameplay. It is awesome. Amazing. The gameplay is perfectly refined and balanced. The weapons are very believable, as are the characters and enemies. Then there is the graphics. When I first saw Halo, It was heart stopping, (2 years ago I think?) Everything looks amazing. Bumpmapping EVERYWHERE, special effects EVERYWHERE, for example you run out on to a snowy plain, and the snow glistens in the light of the evening, and looks beautiful. You walk out into a huge valley, and you really get the impression you are there. Then, there is the replay value. This is what stunned me most about the game. Everygame that I have played, even all of the good ones eventually get to a point where you have played them enough, and they are boring. That has never happened with Halo. Im not really to sure myself why that is.

So, I have come to the conclusion that a good game isnt just good gameplay. It is everything, an I admit I still fall for games with good graphics these days. But one of the most important factors is the replay value. I guess that usually comes from having good gameplay. So everything is interlinked and everything important within a game.

Well, thats my opinion anyway ^_^
Halo?

hmmm

My friend gave it to me. I installed it. I played it for 10 minutes and got so disturbed by those monsters shouting like they were critters that I had to uninstall and burn the CD so I would not install that shit again Tongue

But that's just my opinion.
Heh heh heh. They were the grunts. In legendary difficulty they dont screanm like that. The Elites especially. They laugh evily. =P

Blasphemey!!! Halo was a great game. if you base a game on the sounds an enemy makes then why bother buying any game. name one game where the sounds an enemy makes didn't get annoying.
1.- I don't buy games.
2.- I was exaggerating. I played for two days and became so bored that simply uninstalled the game and forgot about it. I have better games to play, halo is a game focused on young teens I suppose. I need harder material. IMHO, Quake II is way more scary and interesting.
3.- I don't base my appreciation of a game on the sounds some enemies make. I base my appreciation on gameplay and ambientation. And I can't feel myself immersed in an interestelar battle with silly grunts crying like female pigs.

And I will never be fed up with the ogres roars in Quake Big Grin

Zelda II.

Ok, thats just trying to make you sound superior to us. Nathan, Halo is not aimed at "young teens". I know many older people who love it just as much as I do. So dont try to be patronising.

=/ maybe you thought they were crying like female pigs, but just because they may have sounded slightly silly doesnt make the game bad.
1.- I don't try to be superior to anyone :o Man, you're weird. Focused on young teens means "all ages!". I am just saying that I prefer R-18 games 'cause I like extreme violence, just that.
2.- I'm not basing my appreciation JUST ON THAT... Can't you take "examples"? Big Grin And IMHO, that ruins all the athmosphere. Imagine a Vore at Quake I turning at you and singing YMCA, or those nazi soldiers in Return to Castle Wolfenstein singing High-ho like the dwarves in snow-white... ... What would you think about the game?
I'm sorry...they really do sound like squealing female pigs. Getting porked, too. Pun intended. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

DP I dont think he was trying to be patronizing. I could be wrong but I doubt it. My na_th_an-to-english kung fu is still strong! Big Grin

(throws a Village People 33" onto the Polyphonic)
Meh, whenever I post something, dark_prevail thinks I'm attacking him.

I dunno, but I tell my friend "this game is for young teens, I need harder material" (what I posted) I'm sure he will understand that I mean that I like R-18 extreme violent games... Nobody is talking about maturity here :o

(If that would have been the case I would have never admitted that I still love the Tomb Raider series).
