Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it-I give every green plant for food." And it was so. gen 1:29 & 30

There's nothing wrong with the way Diroga and SCM are discussing it...
Anyway, you can replace mince with cereal done up like mince, if anyone remembers Linda McCartney, she was a big fan of vegetarianism and had her own food brand, where they made meat pies with the mince substituted for a special mix of cereal that tasted and looked just the same, and they were very nice too
If I was vegetarian, I'd eat pasta

Diroga, I dont think the fact that God's cool with eating animals means going vegetarian doesnt have benefits.
Oracle: Pasta can be dangerous if you dont watch your protein. There's a reason the Italian stereotype is a big fat dude with a 'stache

ado: That's a common misperception of health food - tofu burgers, turnips and raw carrots. In truth, my diet is waaay wider than most north american people's. Make no mistake, we don't only eat "rabbit food". Right now, there's a pizza with broccoli, tomato sauce, cheese, green peppers...all organic - in the oven. We just avoid putting huge amounts of cheese or oil on anything. And we eat chicken plain, roasted, nothing on it.

People were eating animals long before "God's" existence. Vegetarianism has little to do with how healthy a person is. Looking at your total diet and adjusting it is what determines this aspect of your health. As Rhiannon said, vegetarians have this misconception that they are getting healthier, when in fact many of them, if not most of them, are getting unhealthier. Still, they have this mental image that they are getting healthier and "feeling better". It's all in the mind, kids...it's all in the mind.
And with this post, this thread has become a hot topic. Woohoo!

I hate that word, organic. What the hell do you eat that isnt organic? Metal plates? Even fortified foods contain nutrients from other organic things. It's the only thing you can eat.
Zack, veggie lover pizzas are still pizza. Cheese is a major source of saturated fat, saturated fat causes heart disease, and heart disease is the number one killer in America. Cheese, my friend, is the number one killer in America

Well of course I'd have other stuff, but pasta is very nice...
Oh, and steam your veges. We steam our broccoli for only 30 seconds, really just to heat it up, steaming keeps the goodness in.

Yuck. The only way broccoli tastes good is with cheese spewed all over it, and the only way it's healthy is if you dont steam all the nutrients out. Count me out on that one .

I believe what they refer to when they say "organic" is that they don't use any chemical insecticides or any other chemical treatments, only treatments based on either enzymes or other "natural" things. Most people (ESPECIALLY vegetarians) don't know this though, and go around parading "organic", having NO clue what it means, only throwing that buzzword in your face in a shallow attempt to make you feel guilty for the thought that a big honkin' cow gave it's life to be on your dinner plate.
I have a tendency to dislike vegetarians. Does it show?
