FLU POLL... sort of..

Quote:I've gotten it once.

Mysterious that a lot of people always get it and others almost never (or never) get it......

It has to do with one's immunologic system and how the virus mutates. That has to do with the geographical location. There are zones where the virus is stronger, and people where the immunologic system (even aided by the shoot) is not strong enough to kill the vira.

I've never had a vaccine. Period. My family (and I) put our trust in Oriental medicine. It hasn't failed us so far - in fact, a few years ago my father was very sick, but, after visiting a Chinese medicine practioner, he got quite better.
Anyway, what do you mean by the Flu? There are many types of Influenza, but if you mean the common flu, then I've had it a few times - probably I first got it when I was three, I dunno.

Influenza *is* flu. But there are many forms of it.
When people refer to "stomach flu" or just "the flu", they usually are referring to a particularily nasty strain of the common cold.

Well, flu is more than a cold. It is caused by certain kinds of vira, the cold isn't (it is just a slight body defences fault caused by many things).

What's Influenza?

Quote:What is influenza?
Influenza (flu), is a highly contagious viral infection of the nose, throat and lungs that is one of the most severe illnesses of the winter season. Influenza is spread easily from person to person, primarily when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Influenza may lead to hospitalization or even death, especially among the elderly. About 10% to 20% of the population contract influenza annually.

Prevention*
There is a vaccine to protect against influenza; it is usually given in the fall (September through December) so that protection is conferred for the entire flu "season" (December through March). Because the influenza virus changes from year to year, it is important to get vaccinated with a new flu vaccine every year.

Symptoms
Typical influenza illness is characterized by the abrupt onset of high fever, chills, a dry cough, headache, runny nose, sore throat, and muscle and joint pain. Unlike other common respiratory infections which are often called "the flu," influenza can cause extreme fatigue lasting several days to weeks.

See, 'the flu' as most generally refer to it, is actually, like someone said, more like the common cold (respiratory). It's just another case of something mainstream gaining ass backwards meaning cause some dork said it that 'sounded smart'

they probably used it to get laid Tongue
