Thankyou!! It is hard, and the games dont last long, so yes, a play again option would be useful. I might implement that when I next have time. Once you play it a few times, you get the knack of running those darned little people over. Can you beat my high score of 6457?

I just played it again. In fact, it's extremely difficult. Sometimes I don't even get to run over even two people. :o

No, I have fine self confidence...but considering I've been programming for 3 years and have failed at pretty much everything, I don't put too much weight on my skills.

Zack,
You are a twelve year old working in how many programming languages? I don't think it is a question of ability.

Find a project that is a stretch, but doable and follow it through. For example, finish your rpg. It doesn't have to be perfect (hard advice for me to take). Save some of the improvements for version 2. If you need help ask, but get one project done.

Quote:Uh...opening the file in notepad yields gibberish, and clicking on the shortcut...gives an error.
[edit] Add this to The Geekery too. :rotfl:

Errr... PIF files are edited right-clicking on then and selecting "properties", just like in shortcuts Smile

Ooh...I didn't know what PIFs are.
SCM: Well...I'll give it a shot with a crappy, tile-based (non-scrolling) RPG...I'll have to figure out how I'll do battles, though.

Go to http://www.allbasiccode.com and search for an old game by me (Oytkator's Plans). Check the source. It is exactly what you want to do Smile

It features great tile-based, non scrolling backgrounds, crappy battle engine and some fun.

meh, I've dug for it for you:

This is an old snppet.

On August 23rd, 2000, Nathan Ashhanti made this program with QB, QBasic, PDS. This program came from na_th_an@hotmail.com. The filesize of OYTKATOR.BAS is 203240 bytes. The full version costs absolutely nothing.

Download: http://www.allbasiccode.com/newsite/ABC....TKATOR.BAS

I believe this is a POSTIT file, download it, open it with QBASIC or QB, run it and it will extract a ZIP file to the same folder with all the game files. Unzip it and you're done Smile

I'll try it out in a minute. Tongue
I know how to make a non-scrolling RPG. Thinking up a good story, however, is more difficult. But see my "SCM inspired me..." post in Projects.
